Hello, how to know which database to use? I am supposed to do an LCA analysis for a Direct Air Capture System but I have no idea which database to choose. thank you !
@openLCA11 ай бұрын
choosing a database is a crucial part of the work. Do read about the different databases available on openLCA Nexus, and maybe visit provider websites in order to make your decision.

Hello, I have a question. Why do we need to combine databases?
@openLCA3 жыл бұрын
Of course often there is no need to combine databases. Sometimes, a dataset lacks datasets that you need, and you can find them in another databases, this is a motivation to combine both.
@Yeoldyperson2 жыл бұрын
@@openLCA Is there a reason to not combine all the databases I have downloaded into one? I suppose because there may be overlaps and it would make the databases very slow to open, but perhaps not.

the databases are downloading in pdf format as a result, i am not able to combine them in LCA, ho do i convert the pdf files to .zolca files so as to combine.
@openLCA Жыл бұрын
when you acquire the databases through Nexus, you get access to the .zolca file: nexus.openlca.org/databases

How long does the import process usually take (5:40 on)? Mine seems to be hanging but maybe it just takes a really long time. Thank you.
@openLCA11 ай бұрын
depending on your machine and what you are importing it might take a while. The importing of LCIA methods, for example, can take around 5 minutes

Do I need to save the database into openLCA windows folder? If I deleted the database from my downloads folder, will the database disappear?
@openLCA Жыл бұрын
When you restore (upload) a database in the software, there is a copy that is done automatically at a storage place in your computer. If you delete that copy you wont be able to access the database from openLCA.

Hi, I have some troubles to download datasets in the software. I followed the different steps on this channel, but when I tried to report datasets on the software they do not appear in the "Downloads". So I can't add them in. I already download them from your website, and they are in "Downloads" folder. But they do not appear when I open it from the software. Please, any advice ? Thanks.

open openLCA and right click on the navigation panel (grey box to the left), then click on "restore database". This will allow to import a .zolca file.

hi, may I ask? why do we need database? is it for characterization factor? am I right?
@openLCA2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the database completes the information required for your model. The LCIA method then maps the data in the database to LCA results using characterisation factors.
