Thank you Scott! I really appreciate your excellent tutorials! Most of the tutorials I watched before emphasis turning of color management in the printer and using LR CC or On1 to manage color. I have recently migrated from a Windows PC to a Mac Mini M1 so working with Apple settings is still new to me. In any case with Windows 10 using LR or On1 PR, soft proofing and printing I had good results. Not so with my Mac Mini. My photos look lacking in contrast and deep blacks. So I'm trying to figure out if I have some issue with my driver or if I'm going something wrong. My Printer is the Epson R1900 driver 12.62, OS Ventura 13.2.1. My setup dialog is much different from what you had in this video. Also, any presets that I save don't stick. When I return to the setup dialog everything has reset. I fired up my windows PC and printed the same image, using the same On1 print settings and my print looks the same as my edited photo and the same as my soft proof. I've uninstalled the driver on the Mac Mini and reinstalled it (AirPrint is not an option with the R1900) and I get the same low contrast print. My paper is Epson Ultra premium photo luster and I use Epson's ICC profile, though it is listed as just Premium photo luster, not Ultra for what that is worth. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Perhaps I should use your method of using the printer's color management and ICC profiles? Oh, and I am using perceptual rendering --same as in Windows. I figure either I'm doing something wrong in the Mac OS or the Epson driver, or there is some bug with the Ventura OS.

Thanks Scott and I'm also a big user of Red River, nice to hear that others use it. Last, many years ago I I put all my ICC profile in LR, when I switched to ON1 a year ago, all profiles automatically Synced from LR to ON1.

On1 printing options and additions for software proofing have changed how the software and we have to work. It would be good if the printing options video was update to reflect the changes and how to handle colors that can't be printed as seen on screen using Selective and Adaptive rendering.

thank you Scott , it was very useful. just a question ; does print paper have any shelf-life ? does 3 or 4 years old paper has any effect on print quality ?
@ScottDavenport5 жыл бұрын
Hi there... if you mean pre-print shelf life, I don’t believe there is an expiration so long as the paper is kept packaged (not exposed to light) and dry. For post-print life, check with the paper provider. That will vary.

Hi Scott! You have a very informative and helpful channel, keep up the great work! Just had a question about soft proofing in on1, I want to start printing some images, I don't own a printer yet...I have a friend with a Canon pro graf 1000. How do I get preview of my image that will be seen on the paper that I choose? I have ICC profiles installed in the color sync utility, but I don't know how to select which paper I want to soft proof with? Do I need to install the printer drivers for his printer? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Andrew.

Hi Andrew ... since you have the ICC profile for the printer/paper you'll be using, you can load those into ON1. In the Edit module, choose View > Profiles > Import Color Profile. Pick the profile for your printer/paper combination and then you can do the soft proofing.

That's great...that worked like a charm, thanks. But do I need to install the printer drivers at all? So on1 knows what printer I'll be using?
@ScottDavenport4 жыл бұрын
It won’t hurt, but the drivers aren’t needed for soft proofing.

Using on1 raw 2023.5 I can’t find set color to on1 mgr color.

Things tend to shuffle around a bit or change names. You'll find controls for whether the printer or an ON1 profile controls color in the Color area of the Print dialog window.
