In this After Effects tutorial, we will build a custom call out title using shapes and lines and then break the full graphic down and animate each part of it to create a smooth and beautiful call out title that will appear and pop out as it travels through your video. After creating the call out title, we’ll use the Motion Tracking in After Effects to automatically track the call out title and attach it to an object that is moving through the video with ease.

Mate, this has to be one of the most well taught tutorials on youtube. Nice and fast, little explanations of what's happening and WHY < very important! And no waffling on about unnecessary stuff (except your plugs, which I'm happy to accept because of the quality of this tutorial). Subbed and followed, looking forward to learning more with you.

Thanks for the great tutorial. Unlike a lot of AE tutorials I've found on YT of equivalent complexity, yours is really easy to follow, you explain things clearly and you don't rush and skip over important points. Thanks! p.s. subscribed

Used this for a short BTS video from a model shoot I did a few days ago. Awesome little animation that really adds something interesting without being over the top and too "in your face." All your tutorials are very easy to understand and I like the way you're not too scripted. You'll make choices (size, color ect...) as you go, and I feel that really adds to the quality of the tutorial.

Same 😂 I haven't had much trouble opening it, but applying the things I have learned from all these videos is what's intimidating. I've been paying for adobe creative cloud for more than 2 years now, and the only meaningful work I've gotten done is a couple of t-shirt designs in illustrator.

Thank you very much, this is awesome. I have a video where I am planning to have dozens of call outs -- it looks like if you have multiple call outs, you have nested comps; i.e. the footage is inside the first call out comp which is inside the second call out comp, ... I am new to AE but this seems cumbersome to me. Is there any way to organize this differently; e.g. to have the footage and each call out all in one single comp? (I've tried this, and the problem I've found is that I can't access the "apply motion tracking here" layer from within a different comp.)

Heya this was amazing - your presentation style made this very easy to follow as I had you on one monitor and AE on another, but hardly had to refer to the other screen (Just occasional What was that?) as you didn't rush or made assumptions. I built the call out with slightly different colours as I wanted to create a call out for a wine bottle as I walked around it on a table. I rotoscoped out the background to a blur and then used the call out to give details of the wine. Worked almost except for the tracking - it tracks but the call out moves a lot. Any suggestions?

Nice work mate. It took me less time to follow your vid than it did to use a template. The one thing worth adding would be the existing Premiere presets for quick text animation effects, but they're pretty limited. In terms of layering, aligning and simple animation, your vid was my primary resource, so thanks.

This was excellent. I recall you also did something similar a while back ago. Both are GREAT, but both left one unanswered quesitons....how does one use these as a preset over and over again? Can these callout be save in a way that all you have to do is edit the text fields and reposition the Null and you have - instant callout presets! -- Could you go a bit further and show us how to do that? Much appreciated!!
