G’day ken, I also think it’s a case of cheap programming. All they need is a concept, which can be easily acquired from o/s, find a bunch of nobodies and there is a show. With luck one or more of the nobodies will become a celebrity and the money will keep rolling in. I’m also sure it’s a generational thing. My parents thought that the shows I liked were shit. My grandmother loved Bell Birds and she had no time for my parents’ tastes.

Mate, not to sure about that. While the music was better, I remember things being a bit shit in the 80s. If you were a teenager in Queensland you were a chance to get hassled badly by the law if you liked going out to local rock concerts. They plain clothes fellas would be out picking fights. Those were the days when Queensland police weren’t adverse to bashing up people. And the Joh government was really corrupt. I went from being 15 to 25 in the 80s, and I remember the really high interest rates. I think they got up to 17%. My parents were always worried about money and in fear of losing the house. Unemployment was high and there was a bad drought. Sorry, not the peachy time you recall.
