I’ve only played STO for a few weeks and kinda grasp the game but your videos are helpful even to captains that have played for months even years. I stumbled onto your guide for dilitium farming, and I’m glad I did, thank you for your guides, I really enjoy them. Even though I know most of what you said, I still watch your videos because you actually explain stuff in detail. You are one of few KZbinrs which make videos that I actually click the like button for.

Perhaps you consider this more "advanced" player level, but there's a vastly more important aspect to the Reputation system in STO: 1. Upon reaching Tier VI, you open up additional energy types to that reputations weapons. The best example of this is Terran Task Force. The Beam Array/Dual Heavy Cannons, which were (before reaching Tier VI) only available as Disruptor, are also available as Phaser. Being the hardest hitting single weapon in the game, this was a boon for Phaser builds. This is true of a lot of the weapon/console sets in the Reputation System (Disco is another important one...in reverse, the wide arc DHBB is available as a Disruptor at Tier VI...and so on and so forth). 2. Upon reaching Tier VI, all of the weapons from that Reputation do additional BONUS damage (I think it is 2%). So, *Cat2*. I believe it's only for that reputation, but I could be wrong. Worth Googling. 3. The Traits that you mentioned become more powerful versions. I dont know if this helps you or not. You might have been trying to be concise and just simply let beginner players know that reputation is something they NEED to work on as soon as they can start joining TFOs for the marks (even if you can't use the system immediately, you'll still be able to stockpile Marks for when you can).

And if you have a Temporal Agent toon which you have levelled and gained some rewards from the temporal transponder there is an account unlock which upgrades reputation gear to Mk XIII ultra rare instead of Mk XII very rare for all other characters. Saves you some upgrade kits.

I found this video as I was struggling this weekend with my T5 Cruiser and though maybe I just needed to get a T6 Ship seeing as I was 65. Became very Confused when you could only get T6 thru the Market Place. Thought maybe T5 was the actual max and 6 was just for "Premium" Ships. Good to know that the Rep Progression I've started isn't going to waste. Too bad I just dumped the Dead fleet I was in Last night. As far as this being a Beginners Guide. This game throws a lot of Info at you fast. And just as you start to learn something new, it throws more at you. And, as far as I can tell, there are no Tutorials to go back to to cover this stuff. This video is great for just covering the basics of "Collect this stuff, Do these things, Get Higher Ranks, Maxed out gets you this." When I feel I am ready for a more Indepth look at what I want out of the game, I can go look for that video, but this at least lets me know what I need to start doing.

Don't recycle from the ship. What you want to do is sell to a Ship Equipment Vendor (as in the NPCs selling ship equipment, like in DS9 Shipyard). These NPCs give 50% of the value for sold items which is the highest possible. For a beginner, this can add up to a bit of extra EC over time. You can use the Storm Clouds Gather mission to transwarp to DS9 anytime. Ship Equipment vendor is just a bit after beam in point to DS9.

I've played since day one and only just learnt today, from one of your videos, about using a couple of vendors across the galaxy to sell stuff for more! So many millions of ec wasted!!! But am I a beginner? There is a load of hard stuff which is fairly easy to see and then there are easy bits which are basically hidden. I've just never thought about using youtube to learn about STO until now. I've always just used the wiki and done my own thing. So, while I'm not a beginner or a newbie there is always stuff you can learn from others, and if you skip lessons then you need to start at a beginner class or you will never learn the basics. Calling it beginner makes it easy for people to understand where to start when looking for help, even if they dont consider themselves to be IMO. So basically thanks for the help there (although it cuts to the core - just so many millions wasted) :)

Regarding “beginner” content, maybe you could class it as early game/mid game/endgame? For example most new players get stuck on the same Romulan Warbird or Cardassians during the missions, so early game content would focus on those players (how to build a basic ship etc). This video would count as mid game; players have unlocked most systems but not understand what to do with them. Then endgame is DPS chasing etc

@@MCStu To riff off what Mr. Waffle made me think about, I'd like to see you start a brand new character and do a "Let's Play" type series, except that we don't watch you go through the missions. Instead, you do a new video each time you hit a level that unlocks a feature and you show us the decisions you make on this character with that feature. As an example, at level 1, the tailor is available. So show us a little space barbie for that character. Level 2, you unlock patrols, so then take us to a patrol and explain how to find them/what benefits there are to doing them (especially later with leveling ships). Some levels either won't have much to talk about or really can only be done later (PVP unlocks at level 5!?!), so on those levels show us the gear you have and explain what choices you made with mission gear and check in on earlier systems. Doffing will likely be talked about a lot at different levels as various things happen - you need to get your starter doffs, you need to unlock the nebulas, you need a lot of research lab scientists for crafting, at some point you want to start collecting purples for your ground and space slots, etc. Do this totally without account unlocks (except the Admiralty ships which you can't help unlocking). Don't pass stuff in the bank or use account EC. At level 65, open up all the account/event/recruit stuff you have. Then, going forward, check in every now and then as you hit milestones in different systems (ie: when you unlock level 10 in all admiralty tracks).

Also of note is that you will end up with thousands of dilithium by the time you complete your t6 reputation. My latest KDF toon is about halfway through tier 6 and had over 800K dilithium. Reputation is definitely worth doing.

Same. With this and the dil from the daily Admirality systemand dailies, i get more ore than i can refine. It'll take me years to refine what i already have and get enough additional one by doing dailies to never run dry. Just wish they would raise the daily dil refinement cap already, because this is quite tedious as it is now. Also, having a Temporal Agent as one's main toon also gives one tons of dil ore just by leveling and reaping the enhanced rewards as one progresses.

another awesome video and it is always great when you show the mechanics instead of just mentioning them; I did already find recycle just by accident trying to replicate some things for a fleet order but it took like over a week of playing and before that going back to Sol over and over to sell stuff lol I think the seemingly stupid videos could do well and will help me anyway. I think I might need a better fleet to use this one though cause it has no ship provisions to get the fleet ships and is only lv3 in most stuff; I like the people though so I kind of don't want to leave and I do have shop access. I am not ready yet though with modules so I guess I can see if they progress and if not then I can come looking for a referral.

You're releasing some nice videos MC Stu. This one is particularly timely since I think we're going to be able to earn some marks quicker but in small doses next week with that 2-week Red Alert besides the normal opportunities. I wish Cryptic would add 2 more Reps just to make it 15 FSMs to earn at least 3 fleet ships & possibly up to 15. Store ship versions have the starship trait & console, fleet ship versions don't have those but usually have 10% more hull & shield. I *don't* recommend Cryptic's T5 Rep buying-out lol what a pitiful value. Good choice on the Silik!

I have played this game, off and on, over the last half decade. I think the last time I played some sort of Mirror Universe event was going on or maybe it was the introduction of the 23rd century TOS ships start you can do with your toon, which I think was introduced for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. I recently watched a KZbinr start a set of videos based on his newest playthrough of the game, so I decided to look around at beginner tutorials and found your channel. I just finished the video that had the comment about what you consider a beginner for this game, and to be honest I can also feel somewhat overwhelmed by the vast amount of info in this beginners playlist of videos. If you are looking at perhaps doing some truly basic beginning videos, I would like to point you to a KZbin channel that I frequent that does some great beginner videos for Star Wars the Old Republic, which is a game I came back to, during the pandemic. The KZbinr is named Swotorisa. She does a SWTOR Academy series that really breaks down different elements of the game. Perhaps visiting her channel might give you some inspiration on where to begin with some basic STO vids. I do appreciate all the effort it takes to do these types of videos and I want to thank you for that.

Yes, please be careful about what you use your Fleet Ship Modules on. This is where Dil'...I mean Jem'Hadar characters shine. Build one up, max out the Reps, and test drive a couple of Fleet T6 ships while you refine all that dilithium. Once you're done, transfer the dil over to your main character and delete the Jem'Hadar. Rinse and repeat. This gives you the opportunity to figure out which Fleet T6 ships you like to fly, which also may inform your C-Store purchases/event coupon usage. The extra few hundred thousand dil doesn't hurt either. Should you happen upon a "keeper" ( a Jem'Hadar that you want to permanently add to your stable of alts), you can do that too. Just don't buy them any fancy Exchange stuff until you're absolutely sure you like the character.

This may be a stupid question lol So I just got my first Fleet Module and I decided to check the t6 ship store just to browse for what im gonna get in the future. Now I play on ps4 and for us it'll have ships that say cstore variant so im confused do we get that ship with the 5 modules or do you have to buy it in the c store and if so why the heck did they put it in the fleet module tier 6 ship section? lol

You can buy the T6 fleet version with 5 fleet modules, if you have bout the Cstore version then it only cost one fleet module for the fleet version.

One small correction you actually unlock the sponsorship (getting 5000 instead of 2500 for dailies) at tier 5 not 6.

There is close to 100 T6 fleet ships, just about all the T6 ships in the zStore have fleet versions.

I am a recently returned player from at least 7 years ago if not longer. I know about the reputation system. I know about patrols. But I am just losing credits. I don't feel like I can get a decent build working in my favor. I don't know what I am supposed to do with bridge officers or other options. I'm just flying a T5 D'deridix. I am very frustrated and I simply don't know what I should be working on. Running patrols is not getting me any loot 99% of the time. The cost for these store ships are stupidly over priced for what you get. Not one of them are "good to go" out of the box. But I could buy a game with more enjoyment in it in comparison to one of these ships let alone the massively over priced ship bundles. I'm not having fun at an experience where the game kills me repeatedly just running normal patrols. There is only one I can get through with out a death. I am not having fun, I only feel like I am just working to make the least amount of progression while I watch my limited credits keep going down.

I would start with getting your Reps all up, just running random TFO's, this will give you the most resources, DIL and Rep marks. Some of the best gear in the game come from Rep and you can get Fleet modules there as well, one per Rep at lvl 6, 5 of them will get a any T6 fleet ship.......
