An other fact that I find crazy (as a french person) is that 45 french people registered for Genesis this year, and a total of 60 french people are going if you count the casters and all. That's insane considering the time and money it takes to travel to the US just for a single tournament. I'm looking forward to watch them there.

@@22jdawgjb Honnestly this Genesis is really stacked so it won't be easy but most of the best french players will be there (Gluto of course, Raflow, Crêpe Salée, Oryon, Flow, Naetoru...), we have 13 players seeded in the top 128 and I believe they can do nice things. I think that especially Raflow and Crêpe Salée can do well (even if Miya for Raflow will be tough) and can go pretty far. Recent tournaments showed that some european top players can start to rival some NA and Japanese top players. In the last 1-2 years the french top 10 players (excluding Gluto) got wins over MKLeo, Maister, Protobanham, Yoshidora, Bassmage, Tea, Riddles, Kola, BigBoss, Sisqui, Tarik, Bloom ... so it will be really nice to see how things are going here. And most of the time when there was a big NA supermajor with a lot of french players some of our players did really well (Oryon got 13th at Genesis 8, Raflow got 13th at Super Smash Con 2023) so I hope this will happen this time too. And of course I believe that Gluto can win the whole event. His bracket doesn't look bad but it isn't easy either, and of course there is the Sonic/Steve/GnW problem for Wario especially in top 8 where he will probably have to fight Sonix and Miya but he probably worked on some new things during his recent trip to Japan and I'm excited to see how it goes.

What I wanted to say is that Gluto's last set against Sonix was at Genesis 9 one year ago (he lost 2-3) and since that he said several times that he worked a lot on the matchup and on his usage of bike, he also said his trip to Japan helped him to realize new things on some Wario stuff, including bike. So with everything combined he may have enough new gameplan to beat Sonix, at least I hope.

21:44 AFAIK the story with Acola is when originally asked if he was going to go to Genesis, he wasn't (for whatever reason I'm not sure/don't remember) however later he decided that he did want to go but by that point it was too late.

that's what I've heard too. I believe he just wasn't motivated to compete, but when he changed his mind it was too late for Zeta to organise a trip for him. Being a minor it's a bit more complicated since he needs to have a guardian with him. Acola will be at Karisuma this weekend (C tier) with Doramigi and some other good players, but ofc that's kinda overshadowed by Genesis

Lima wasn‘t mentioned at all but looking at his bracket I think he could get really far. Bassmage to get into Top 64 is a very favorable MU and after Lima farmed Jahzzo at 4o4 I do feel confident that he will beat Asimo. Spargo also realistic looking at his set at the In-Person Coinbox where they went Game5. Only Ken seems very difficult, idk their set record tho

@@LoadedKlip No, he doesn’t play those chars in tournament. That’s exactly what I mean by saying multiple chars have been detrimental. Splitting his focus between Diddy and Seph makes him do worse generally, so he’s decided to solo main Diddy. He doesn’t even play Seph in friendlies that much anymore.

Gavin, I hate to be one more voice of the million people that tell you you should play x character, but I had a thought that's worth you considering for a future bracket. Obviously, you don't have the prep time to make major adjustments for this bracket, so you pretty much have to go Diddy, but when it comes down to the difficult matchups you have in front of you, namely Samus and Steve, pokémon trainer can be an answer for both. Both. Obviously or does exceptionally well against Steve with an easy time breaking blocks and punishing minecart and recovery. Squirtle is a good solution for the Samus matchup. In a sense, playing pokémon trainer gives you a one-stop utility knife or a number of your losing matchups.

Potential matches of importance Mute has maister into miya, apparently peaches hardest matchup zackrays got sonix in his path WR2 IF he beats dabuz so its not looking good for top 8 (but low-key a chance beastmodepaul beats sonix so we maybe good) Leo has shuton wr2 of top 64 who he is notoriously 0-3 in sets against, that or kurama who he struggles vs. Before that he has the winner of justice or jakal, both players hes struggled against before. Void would have to beat zomba for winners top 64 (a matchup he loves and zomba hates) but would then be against kaninabe (a matchup void hates) Theres also some very interesting stuff for melee if people here care And while tweek has an awful bracket path, its genesis, upsets gonna go crazy so hopefully he wont have to play most of them

5:29 "Somehow I dont have one favourable situation in the whole bracket". So its Sunday, Tweek is in top 8 losers side, and his bracket path went from Goblin>Onin>Yaura>Gluto to Niko>Tarik>Shadic>Zomba (Lost)>Riddles. Up until Winners Quarters, every single demon Tweek was supposed to face got upset one round before getting to him. The only players that could be considered bad draws are Riddles (which he utterly demolished in 3-0 fashion) and Zomba (yeah, Tweek lost to him, but the alternatives left in Winners were Sparg0, Sonix, Ken, Shuton, Light and Maister, you had to run into a behemoth sooner or later). Whats the takeaway here? Brackets are volatile. Truly, in a P Tier with a humongous concentration of talent, projected seeds are something good to go off, but everything can explode in a matter of seconds and not even Mr Genesis himself is safe from being upset in pools in his home turf.

Lowkey ak makes top 8, he has beaten sonix and ken before, will have sonic practice in bracket with sonido, as a pacman player it's slightly winning for snake, and he almost beat spargo at wtt, his hardest set on winners side is possibly webb. And if he does lose to ken as seeded his bracket besides the snake ditto is pretty good, I think lima/bloom beats skyjay, and then ak probably beats winner of them, then zomba and light for top 8 losers, both of who he has pretty dominant records on as of late.

I’ve always said that it wasn’t fair that Acola gets to sit in region and farm everyone and get number #1 Sparg0 literally goes there and destroys him from losers. There should be another system including into the rankings that gives you more points for going into someone else’s region and beating them. Say sparg0 goes to Japan for a week and cleans up Acola and Miya. That should make them have to travel to Mexico to try and get bonus points back to deserve the #1 spot. (And yes I get that Japan is a very strong region)

Everyone talking about how acola is the no1 player and how he wont be attending Genesis but I think that's a weird way to see it, Rankings reflect past results and acola was 2023's no1 for sure but he had a shaky end of the year compared to his early dominance, I don't consider him the current no1, hell, I even consider him the lowest of the 4 horseman, but while you can say you can be no1 without attending Genesis, I would be really surprised if acola was the no1 player of the 2024 rankings. This is one of the reasons why I don't really like rankings, because they don't reflect current standings, just "recent", take Leo for example, he was ranked no1 still in April 2023, but everyone knew, he was no longer playing like that.

Idk if its appropriate to consider acola number 1 in the world. Don't get me wrong he seems like a genuinely nice kid. And how far the hate for him has gone with shit like death threats is 100% unwarranted. That being said, it's well known Steve is broken right. In his own tier completely above every other character. The difference between him and the next set of best characters is big. So when someone who wasn't THAT well known. Never in the top 30 in the world. But once he grabs Steve he cheeses all the best players in the world with ease. Other than spargo with cloud. But when spargo works him acola will switch to Aegis and Kazuya. And when he's playing them he doesn't look like a top 2000 player in the world. Lol so can we really consider him the best when he's obviously carried by his main?

I mean the main vs secondary argument can be made about gluto too and I don’t think anyone’s trying to say gluto is carried by wario, sometimes a character is just made for someone, and no other character fits their placestyle quite as well. There are other examples besides gluto, but he’s a pretty good one, as he’s tried out his Roy/DK against more than one person and gets absolutely thrashed everytime
