So you know Jasper is actually named Ned😂 he represents Tyler’s creativity which is why in the video he won’t jump in the pool until it’s up to his standard in the same way Tyler doesn’t want to release music until it meets his standard and he thinks it is good enough

"Jasper what the f*ck?" 🤣 TOP has a ton of wonderful songs. I highly recommend the trilogy off Trench (Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners, Levitate). Leave the City (closing song off Trench) is also beautiful. SAI has a very different sound from Trench. Tyler's a dad now and seems to be much happier, and the music reflects that. Plus, he mentioned he didn't want to put out something else that's dark after quarantine. Still has some killer tracks, though. Mulberry Street, the Outside, No Chances, and Redecorate are my favorite songs off SAI.

@Alyssa Ayres no, I get what you're saying and you're absolutely right. I've been a huge TOP fan for years and I know most songs (even the light-sounding ones) have dark undertones. But overall the tone isn't as overly dark as Trench was. I absolutely love Trench. It helped me though a difficult time in my life, but there are some songs that are really heavy and I can't listen to them all the time. SAI has a couple of heavy songs, but the lightness of the music overall makes it enjoyable regardless of my mood :) I can sit and digest the lyrics if I'm feeling introspective, or I can just enjoy the surface level feeling.

😱I am so glad to see them on your channel again! 😎 The little creature is Ned, and he represents Tyler's creativity. He won't get into the water until the conditions are perfect...for Tyler, this represents his creative process. He has said in the past that he sometimes thinks his songwriting process is going to kill him. There is a very fine line between catharsis and self destruction, and he's constantly trying to find harmony between the two. At the end of the rap/spoken section, Tyler says he lives on lead that's terrible in flavor and doubles as a paper-maker. He's referring to the lead from a pencil he writes with, and although it leaves a bad taste in his mouth, songwriting is also how he makes his money. I think that's a pretty cool metaphor. ☺️ This song comes from the album "Trench," which is a concept record that focuses on the constant battle between the mind and mental illness. Anyways, I would love to see you check out their songs "Migraine" and "Ode To Sleep" 😊

So glad you checked this out, hope you check out the Trench video trilogy, really cinematic and very cool sounds (Jumpsuit->nico & the Niners-> levitate). The creature Ned represents Tyler's creativity, not satisfied until everything is perfect. Chlorine is a metaphor for making music ('this beat is a chemical'). It is used to purify things and Tyler is drinking it to cleanse himself from his dark thoughts('moment is medical') but while songwriting is very cathartic for him, if he over-relies on it, making music can be harmful to his mental health as he often talks about deep topics that can be difficult to delve into, he's quite a perfectionist so is wrestling with the song to make it sound right and now that music is his job ("now you double as a paper maker"), his relationship with it is more complicated.
