Twilight Animatronic to Sally Face Sewer Pony Transformation

This is the second animatronic that I've ever modified, and it was really fun! The whole thing was funded by Briwolfie on TikTok. I'm a huge Sally Face fan, so I knew I had to make something from it.
If you're working with foam, and using any kind of heat on it (including a hot knife or heat gun), please remember to wear appropriate safety gear. Respirators are a must!

This is old, but if that spring is still haunting you I believe it may have been part of the touch sensor. Her horn, along with Starlily, have sensors in their horns when you touch them! If I had to guess the spring is probably for light reflection. Just having a little light at the bottom of the horn would just make the bottom of the horn glow, but adding something shiny going through the horn allows the light to bounce off of it. Something springy allows the light to move and sparkle even more when the animatronic is in motion.

@Tobyhorrorboy Hey! Just found out, a year later, I got one of these twilight animatronics for 4 dollars and she's sad and tired but still works amazingly well. The horn has a sensor. I played around with the functions and all that and my assumption is the spring actually did something for that internal sensor in her head for her to make magical spell noises and directly lights the horn up. Let me know if your horn sensor still works, since personally I'd like to remove the horn entirely on mine but I don't want to "cripple" the animatronic if you know what I mean.

Sad and tired is how I’d describe mine when I first got her! She had nail clippers stuck in her tail, I guess the previous owner wanted to give her a makeover 😅 It doesn’t look like the horn sensor still works on mine (which makes sense considering what I did to it haha), but I don’t think you’d lose much by getting rid of the horn! Are you fully customising her? I’m so intrigued

I know this video is a bit old but if you unravel the yarn before brushing it out, you lose less 'hair' than brushing it out straight away.

​@@tobyhorrorboy IIn that case, let me show you a trick on how I do the hair on my plushies :) (it's 100% optional and I won't be offended if you don't want to try it) First, cut a strip of fabric, the length that you want your plushies' mane to be. Make sure it's a light colour and is more on the thicker side than your plushie's fabric. Then, once you've cut your yarn and tied the knot in it, grab a yarn needle and put one end of the yarn through the eye and sew it through the thich fabric strip, before doing the same with the other end of the yarn too. If you do this right, you should have the knot on one side of the fabric, with the two strands coming out on the other side. Once you do this, pop this 'hairy' strip on your pony where you want the final mane to be, so you can line up where to sew the 'hair's out through the main fabric of the plush. Once you do that, then you can untangle/unweave the yarn ends, brush it and get that rooted hair effect :) By using that thicker piece of fabric, you create a strong and secure anchor for those knots that won't pull on the external fabric or be visible from the outside :) Plus there's the added bonus of easily swapping the mane out for a different colour if it doesn't look right or if you want to try a different length instead. I hope this helps :)

Okay obviously I’m not American but you should just be able to get it at any hardware store? Might also be called contact adhesive? And I’m pretty sure that Barge is one of the brand names you guys have over there! Contact cement is just a type of adhesive that’s really strong, and that I really like using! Basically if it’s a hardware store that has a big glue isle, they should have a section for it!

Yes! I wear a 3M respirator! It’s one of the plastic ones, not just like a dust mask. Every time I sand or heat up foam, no exceptions!

I get that! I felt the same way at first, but I get all of my animatronics second hand, and there often a bit… dirty or in need of a clean anyway. There are probably hundreds of thousands of every one of these animatronics, so I’m sure no one will mind if I use a few here and there to create something different! I find FurReal Friends all the time secondhand, so I’m not cutting up a rare collectable. If you want to get into customising, I’d say go for it! It’s not ruining it, it’s just making it look a little different 💚

Sorry, what do you mean by Alboni? Sally Face is a horror video game. I played it on Steam and on the Switch, but I know that Jacksepticeye has a good playthrough as well! There’s a bit early on with ponies, so I made the main pony from that
