I'm really liking the reboot since it's both a continuation of the same story but also lots of new stuff. When reboots are just older actors returning to the same old characters, same story lines same old catch phrases, like nothing changed, it's stale and sad. When you try to just shoehorn new plot lines into old ideas it doesn't work. This is a great mix of both revisiting old but lots of new! Also loving the community it's creating of fresh eyes to the series, old fans, and how connected we all are.

Anyone noticed that the day before good cooper came back to the real world was the birthday of Sonny Jim? And when he looked at him in the car, there were tears in his eyes, I don't know what exactly reason he was crying, but surely some part of him was hit of emotion.

I think the left ring finger with backwards writing relates to the Owl Ring and it's connection to the Black Lodge. The backward writing could be a nod to the backwards talking in the Waiting Room.

Pete, for me and I think I speak for most of us followers. Your doing a nice job gathering all of these interesting facts and cues, some of which went right over my head, because it happened so quickly, I do remember the original series, my brother was into it, and for me I didn't have time to sit down and watch it then, but now I'm engrossed. Thanks again

RE: The key - One thing my FB feed mentioned is how originally it was Cooper that said he wanted a 'Clean place, reasonably priced'. It wasn't ever mentioned as a slogan for the Great Northern, or to my recollection seen on any GN keys (honestly can't recall they ever showed a key up close, but it would be a tremendous coincidence that it mirrored exactly what Coop desired). Now, they were theorizing stuff about Cooper being the 'moonchild' and having crazy powers to alter things (referencing his jackpot-and-lie detecting abilities) and so he 'made' the key say that. I'm ok with the moonchild theory (though, it is pretty ominous), but honestly as far as the key goes, I think it was a bit of an inside joke about Cooper more than any concrete clue leading us further. Also, this show is more Twin Peaks than even Twin Peaks ever was, since every episode is carefully crafted by the original creators of the show (Lynch/Frost), and I'm absolutely loving it and can't wait for Sundays. I'm basically like Dougie Coop doing the pee-pee dance all week at this point.

Yeah, the saying on the back is one of those things. Could be just a callback, or could be evidence of the alternate reality theory that people have been kicking around since TSHoTP came out with all the discrepancies. At this point I am not jumping to any conclusions 😶

A few thoughts: 1. In FWWM the arm said: “Going up and down. Intercourse between the two worlds.”. Tracey uses an elevator to get to the glass box floor. Otis (this is also the name of the guy in Buella's house) is the name of an elevator company. 2. Buella's home may be another gate between the two worlds. I find it very strange that Mr. C just says bring me "Ray & Daria" just as if they are some kind of a furniture and they show up. 3. Buella may actually be keeping some kind of a cloning device. Ray, Daria, Dougie and Maj Briggs have been manufactured there multiple times. Notice the two grotesque figures there - the tall skinny guy, and the short guy. They may be the product of malfunctioning cloning device (defromed giant and deformed dwarf - failure to clone , the Giant and the Arm). Also the Evolution of the arm looks like a human being in the process of being manufactured. 4. The scene at the restaurant with Ray, Daria, Jack and Mr. C. Jack eats like he had not eaten in days. A freshly manufactured clone would have and empty stomach. Just like Maj Briggs corpse. 5. The manufactured bodies need some kind of a harddisk to make them operational. Or maybe they are the only way you can recreate a body. Thats why Maj Briggs head is missing. We saw that the head houses the golden sphere and Mr. C will need Briggs' head and golden sphere to clone him. 6. The ghost in the glass box holds a golden sphere for a brief moment. Maybe this is Agent Cooper's memory card that was extracted from him in the glass box. This would be a fitting metaphor since the room is used to store numerous memory cards of camera footage.

I think it is possible that when Evil Coop was scanned for fingerprints, he hacked the system and mirrored the entry so that it matched with Cooper's, but he forgot about the letters, and that was what Tammy has noticed, the mirrored letters in otherwise valid entry.
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
So do you think he did it because he has a different person's print on his ring finger?
@Romanov13097 жыл бұрын
What I mean is maybe he has a mirrored fingerprints on his fingers, but then again, why only one finger, I am not sure...
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
That is what is weird about the whole thing for me. It isn't just a matching print but it's obviously the exact same roll of the finger. Been thinking it means something so the idea of him having a different print on the ring finger seemed like a reason to alter the file.
@karinkrog3697 жыл бұрын
The symbol of the ring is significant in many ways here. The ring was returned to Coop when he solved the LP murder. Then the answer/circle was concluded. There are symbolic rings (F.i.The sycamore trees leading to the black lodge) and real "putonurfinger" rings. When I saw the ringfingerprint beeing reversed, or different anyway, I immediatly thought the ring is part of the puzzle again, thus also the ringfinger.
@karinkrog3697 жыл бұрын
It might... Good observation :) There was also a ring of candles we saw beeing blown out. I don`t remember where, but I think it was in the Roadhouse just before Coop saw/visioned the dream he had: Laura in the Black Lodge whispering "My father killed me" into his ear... I am not sure though.. I think I have to see the whole show again now..lol.. :)

Sometimes I wonder if approaching Twin Peaks as a jumbled puzzle to be solved may be not quite how Lynch is telling this story. Things like the ring in the corpse's stomach or the pile of yartzed up garmonbozia Dougie leaves, aren't clues as much as traces. Just like fingerprints on a glass, they may incidentally serves as a source of information, but that's not *why* they are there, fundamentally. Someone once said: "it's not our job to clear up the mystery. It's to make the mystery clear." I suspect Lynch (and possibly Coop, by now) would agree.
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
I think it's in their best interest to leave the imagery and ideas as open-ended as possible because that leaves the viewer able to connect from a variety of different places. Any time an artist has to tell you what their work means in order for it to be enjoyable they have come up short. Breaking things down and sifting through the visuals just makes the journey more fun. I think if it was only to try and solve the problem, or crack the mystery wide open, it would be a useless endeavor - especially with this installment of Twin Peaks. Not everything is something, but everything might be significant down the road.

Pete Peppers :Thanku for these insightful and informative videos. I am so impressed!!! Also it is so great to read these comments. I would consider myself a huuge fan of TP, but theres not many I can talk to about it. This is like TP heaven to me :) And yes Frank Sijbenga Very well put.. Sometimes, it might be tempting to overanalize the wonderful mind of David Lynch and his artistic work. However, It`s healthy to use ones imagination, and beeing observent is supposedly a proof of high intellegence ;) I was thinking...In the show, drugs were mostly used as an "escape" from Bob. Obviously Bob is still "inside" bad Coop, and the "bad habits" girl live opposite Dougie/Bad Coop/Bob. She might be a victim? Looking forward to the your next episode ;) PS: Pardon my english, It`s been a while

I believe evil Coop has a unique relation to technology, based on the stuff he does - the prison plans, the phone, the hacking. The mirrored print, along with the text, may be a "side effect" of that, corrupting the file. Good coop is more focused on intuition and rarely ever used any tech gadgets, which is somewhat consistent with the dopplegangers being sort of Jungian "shadows" of characters.
@LaurentLaSalle7 жыл бұрын
The picture of Agent Cooper is actually from a screen capture of S01E05, when he is interrogating Dr. Jacoby - at 5:33, when he replies "Ginger is non-addictive; cocaine is". It was indeed in the Sherriff's department. There was nobody else in the room at that time, and certainly no cameras (although you never see the part of the room where that shot would have been taken).
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
I wasn't sure except that it was wood paneling. I went back and watched the episode when he was talking to the other agents and noticed there was a wooden picture frame in that shot. Nice catch.

I thought at first that it was a crop of a promo picture for the show (I remembered seeing it in a magazine article or something similar), and Google matched it with the previous shot (more centered). I quickly browse the first episodes, looking to match Cooper's tie (something that changes every episodes or so).

If that happened though we wouldn't be able to enjoy videos like these. These theories and questions are part of the experience. Really enjoying these videos, man! It's so fun to speculate about the meaning of all these details, things that we may never actually find out. I really want to know the deal with Sonny-Jim, there's something going on there. I can't remember if it was you who mentioned the similarities between Sonny-Jim and the old man from the Great Northern with the warm milk when Coop got shot back in the original series, but that's a cool idea. They both give Coop a similar thumbs up. Also, wasn't there a connection between that old man and the giant? Maybe Sonny-Jim is connected to the giant??? I dunno...

Top notch work as always. I agree with the answer to your last question. Has a show ever returned after 25 years? They are in uncharted territory here where they have to keep the story fresh and interesting. Limiting the storyline to Twin Peaks would be challenging since so much time has passed and so many characters are missing or elsewhere (Cooper). I will say it is frustrating to watch this show in so many different places with so many new characters. This show is hard to follow as it is and every week there are new storylines developing and new characters introduced. I get that this is really an 18 hour movie but we can only hope with 13 hours left that things will start to come together and we'll get a clearer picture of where this show is ultimately headed for this season (probably Dougie Coop vs. Evil Coop).

I think The Original Dougie never really existed, there was never a Dougie Jones. Mike says he was 'manufactured'. Jeanie-E is always dropping hints that Dougie has always been sort of out of it and spaced out. Makes me think that the Manufactured Dougie has always been kind of 'off'. I'm starting to believe that Dougie's family was 'manufactured' as well. If Dougie was only created so that Evil Coop can escape returning to The Black Lodge, what does that say about Jeanie-E and Sonny Jim? Sonny-Jim is pretty spaced out too. Same w the Meth Mom and her kid, they seem stuck in a time loop (Manufactured too?) I AM LOVING THIS SERIES!
@PetePeppers17 жыл бұрын
The Dougie family stuff has been a mystery. I went over it in my What's up with Dougie video, and at first was wondering if Janey-E and Sonny Jim were not what they seem. As the story has carried on it seems less likely, but that doesn't mean it makes anymore sense.

A lot of old TP fans complain about so much being unexpected in the new series. Of course everything is unexpected, that's what's great about Twin Peaks. You have to be patient and figure it out as it goes along. The more bizarre and weird and unexpected the better. Give it a chance.

Twin Peaks really pushed the envelope back in 1990-91, in terms of what was possible in television. It has to do so to an even greater extreme today in 2017. The feeling of confusion we have is an essential part of the whole process. All will be explained by the end. Enjoy the ride.

In heraldry, argent /ˈɑːrdʒənt/ is the tincture of silver, and belongs to the class of light tinctures, called "metals". It is very frequently depicted as white and usually considered interchangeable with it. In engravings and line drawings, regions to be tinctured argent are either left blank or indicated with the abbreviation ar. in them. The name derives from Latin argentum, translated as "silver" or "white metal." The word argent had the same meaning in Old French blazon, from which it passed into the English language. Sometimes, the different tinctures are said to be connected with special meanings or virtues, and represent certain elements and precious stones. Even if this is an idea mostly disregarded by serious heraldists throughout the centuries,[2] it may be of anecdotal interest to see what they are, since the information is so often sought after. Many sources give different meanings, but argent is often said to represent the following: Of jewels, the pearl Of heavenly bodies, the Moon Of metals, silver -Wikipedia

To be honest, I am liking season 3 more than season 2 for sure, FWWM, and probably even more than 1 (might be tied for now). I also watched it for the first time much later (around 2012) than those who watched it back in the early 90s. I think a lot of folks have nostalgia also attached to the original series and this season isn't going to be a time machine to you in the early 90s. Would almost bet all the folks complaining about season 3 watched it on the original run. Not saying they aren't those who watched it then that do like the new season, those are just the folks that know its just a TV show though.

Interesting to me that 'Evil Coop' doesn't just do the hit job on 'Dougie Coop' himself. I mean, I know he's busy and all, but he has a fairly big operation behind getting rid of Coop when you'd think he could just hire a common hit man to do the job quick. Makes me wonder if possibly Evil Coop and Dougie Coop can't be near each other for some reason.
