No smoke, no oiled sparkplugs,no error codes,very good emmision tests,clean catalysts.

As an Alfa enthusiast I have to admit that the TwinSpark engines of that era have a lot of problems. On the other hand the JTDm engines around the same time are the complete opposite. They are indesdructable power engines. In general the Diesel is the best. The turbos don't fail. The gearboxes are very durable and so on. Especially the 8V.
@depletedisotope3 ай бұрын
JTD from that era was a revolutionary thing with it's common rail that was first used in a car... I hated diesel since before my 147 I drove mk4 golf TDI, but after JTD I changed my opinion and tbh. I'd drive those engines until I die if I could...

Hello Bruno, thank you for the informative video. The issues caused by oil consumption worry me a bit. I have a 1.8 CF3 engine with 270k km and it uses around a litre of 10W60 every 2000/2500 km. Car runs very smoothly. If consumption stays like this, is there to tell if there will be trouble? Oil change around every 10k kilometers and most drives are 35km+, so no short distances. No rust on car and nice shape so I plan to just keep driving it. Greetings from the Netherlands

I’ve just found out this channel and now I’m pretty sure that my next car will be Alfa Romeo again. My current car 147 1.6 twin spark has some issue and I wouldn’t mind if I get opinion on it. So the problem is that while I drove it the cap of oil engine exploded and throw out a lot of oil. I was on the road so just cleaned it put again some oil and went back home. The car is still moving no smoke from the exhaust or when I open the oil cap or oil stick…
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching! It's a bit odd. The dipstick should have come out. The oil cap is screwed in, so no way it was pressure. Maybe the cap was not in place at all?
@atanas13282 ай бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem Yes, the dipstick was on place. The cap was screwed in. While I was driving I just heard a sound like "boom" and I heard how the cap hited the front lid. The engine bay was like pour with motor oil. Actually the car burn oil just like this one on the video but works good no power loss or something like that. When the engine works and I open the cap there is a pressure from inside out. Somebody said it's a normal somebody said the engine is blown.

I have an Alfa 147 1.6TS, the motor makes the diesel engine noise, do I replace the variator and the hydraulic tappets or just the variator? Do you know the price of the variator in Portugal? In other countries it's expensive and difficult to obtain. There's a kit to repair the variator, it's a spring and a plastic ring, have you repaired any variator with this kit?

I had a similiar problem with my old Stilo with 1.4 16v 90hp engine. At 240kkm it consumed 1 litre of oil for 1000km and finally burned out a valve. I have put another engine with half the mileage and guess what, the oil consumption was also a half less. I sold the car finally because it required much more money to be put in, and the engine was still not perfect and much much underpowered for a Stilo. I got another Stilo with a 1.9 jtd 115hp and there my problems ended. I was never a big enthousiast of diesels, but enough was enough.

I measured -18 oC freezing point of coolant in my 2.2 JTS. Based on some graph, this means I have too much water (about 60-65% of water). I will replace the whole coolant. Or at least drain the one from the expansion tank and add pure concentrate of antifreeze. eLearn says to drain the coolant on the cold engine. But how do I drain and refill the coolant that remains in the engine, since the thermostat is closed? Or is it not necessary?
@alfaromeonoproblem3 ай бұрын
Hello. The thermostat is irrelevant for draining. And cold is for the best so you do not have a thermal shock when filling the new cold one

Sounds like dead variator even after the rebuild, it should run even smoother. Also check PCV and all of the oxygen sensors, there are 3. I have 147 1.6 120hp facelift and had even more severe consumption so i had to change the pistons,crankshaft bearings,spark plugs and etc. Now after 8000km i have 0 oil consumption, hard to believe but it's true 🙂.

That TS ticks like hell. Sorry to say, but a few tappets are not that expensive. Also a missfire can be from a bad injector. I had this problem at the begining of the year on my JTS. I've changed the injector, all the seals for all of them, mounted back and everything is great. And yes, mine consumes oil too, but there's no blue smoke! Let's say somwhere betwen 2-3l at 8k-10k km (10W-60). It consumes mostly when driving on higway.

As it was, was already very expensive for this customer. It was advised to do the repair replacing the essentials, but he declined. Two valves only, spark plugs and gaskets
