I live in pretty deep red Texas so the election anxiety is real and honestly I’m much more worried about the aftershocks where I live for if Kamala wins like of course I want her to and I voted for her but I’m still somewhat concerned about how people here are going to act if she does win. We voted early in-person and in line I heard conversations about like “I have a friend who’s a…you know…democrat and he said that he just couldn’t do it he couldn’t vote for her he had to vote for trump” and that just kind of terrified me. But like where I live we literally had a vote on whether or not to outlaw “abortion trafficking” which if passed, would make it legal to snitch on your neighbors for suspicion of moving across state lines for an abortion. So yeah the election anxiety is VERY REAL for if the conservatives get their way and if they don’t get their way 😪

"take every thought captive? That's called OCD, dude" I suffered from religious OCD because of verses like that. I fixated on the "unforgivable sin" of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and every pastor I heard preach on that passage said "if you're worried about it, you haven't done it." That just reinforced the anxiety and obsession!!! Churches aren't equipped to handle mental health, which is what a lot of their congregation is *actually* struggling with.
@IMHOTheShowАй бұрын
That was me EXACTLY obsession as a kid. And I would think “fuck the Holy Spirit” simply because your brain will do the thing you don’t want it to do. And I would spiral. -G

39:53 this is one of the reasons why I am reluctant to go get "officially" diagnosed with (at least) ADHD, because I am not sure what effects long term medication can have on the body, and also if once on pills, will I forever be stuck with taking them... If anything, I am more interested in accessing other resources and things that could help me function better or coping strategies, but (I'm not US based) from what I've seen around, all those things almost exclusively exist for children, and I still have plenty to wait until there are at least some needs of adults (45 f) with late diagnosis being properly addressed. So far I've done my best with researching things online (youtube of ppl who share a similar story), ordering books, and so on and so forth. Love you both💜and your content 💜so so much!💜 Keeping fingers crossed for President Mamala (not sure if SNL called her that, but I guess it works) 🤞🤞
@Boooo_39Ай бұрын
You're not stuck taking them forever, some pills are taken as needed. There are times I can't get mine filled and I have no withdrawal symptoms. If you were to take them for a couple of years then decide you no longer want to take them anymore you can. I'm not trying to convince you to take meds, just letting you know that you have options, it's not something fixed I do recommend therapy for ADHD though, was diagnosed as an adult and after decades of maladaptive coping mechanisms, you can't just flip a switch and be "fixed" with just meds. It takes years and years undoing everything you've been programmed to do since you were a child.
@AnaMusingsАй бұрын
@@Boooo_39 Well I have been in therapy for the past 9 years, so at least that part is covered... but I think my therapist is more on the school of thought of "ADHD in childhood produces bipolarity in adults" so although she is great overall, on this particular side, the "neurospiciness" shall we call it, I'm not sure is within her areas of specialty. Besides, only a psychiatrist would diagnose the ADHD, because only they can prescribe the meds and she would recommend me ppl who I could go to, I still have doubts about going... I suppose one of my worries is that if I begin to take pills, see improvements and then after some time I give them up or something, I'm afraid I would fall from a higher place and maybe regress somehow? or undo whatever progress I might've done in the meantime? I don't know how to explain it necessarily... but I am trying to find like groups or ppl who are in similar situations with me, because I'm pretty sure that whatever support groups or programs there are, at least for now, are more focused on "youths" :)) let's call them, and I'm pretty sure there are different needs or approaches to things. Not to mention that even those are not necessarily well established or widely spread anyway, so... I do think I need to be a bit more patient maybe, until more targeted resources are available... I am still on the lookout and researching so maybe it will happen sooner rather than later 🙂 And tysm for answering 🙂talking about ADHD in the comments of a Twinnuendo video was not on my bingo card this morning, but here we are :))

I was out here going to seven and $10 shows with Relient K and five iron frenzy, the W’s and some random ass other bands.
