The hair style was called the "GUMBY" after an animated character on TV of the day. Bobby created the hairstyle and made it popular in the day!! The hairstyle was an accident with his barber who accidentally cut his fade block. Bobby instead of getting mad said, "LET'S GO WITH IT"!!! The rest is hairstyle history.

every member of NE was capable of whatever, they were all so versatile. Bob got out there first and took off. Johnny was out there single prior to NE, but even his initial period with NE reset his solo career. but Bob's solo work was insane. That rebellious aspect of Bobby Brown and Janet Jackson during this period is really what paved the way for so many artists. and shout outs to Jam, Lewis, Babyface, and L.A. Auntie Nancy, have you ever wondered why? Is it by design that the youth today on an average aren't aware of the incredible music that we grew up on? Think about it, when we were kids we not only recognized artist before our time but were very familiar with their work as well! In comparison to the young people today our knowledge of the ones that came before us was vast! We knew groups and musicians that were out 10 to 20 years before our time! The ball was drop somewhere, because between our parents and the black radio stations back then, we were very well versed on the music of yesterday during our time, thus keeping the artist and their music relevant!
@donovanredmond8050

@@rosefritchman7829 Elvis technically was before my time( I was like 8 when he passed) as was the Beatles, The Turtles, Jimmy Hendrix and a boatload of other uberly talented artist! Yet they were still for the most of them extremely relevant during my time! You'd be amazed @ of how knowledgeable I was when it came to the many artists in varies music genres! I was a walking music encyclopedia!
@auntienancy7787
@auntienancy7787 3 жыл бұрын
@@donovanredmond8050 There are numerous reasons. The main one imo, I think families today aren't as connected as we were. There are too many existing distractions that keep family members separated and doing "individual" activities. Growing up, my parents always had music playing. Even more on holidays. Music was playing during early Saturday morning chores. As such, I got to hear blues, Doo Wop, and Motown, in addition to the current music of the day (70s/80s.) Some of their friends liked jazz, so I got to hear that too. Ultimately, I did the same for my younger siblings, nieces, and nephews. Music was always playing. Whenever one came to me with some "great new 90s/2000s song" they'd heard, I'd immediately pull out the original from which it was sampled. At the end of the day, we can't expect them to know if WE don't interact and expose them to it...
