The song you just listened is probably one of the greatest comebacks of all time and probably the greatest musical comeback of 21st century. Mariah ruled airplay, charts and sales around the world, after media and GP told her she was "over". This song went to sell 10M copies WW, remained at #1 for 14 weeks, won 2 GRAMMYs and was Billboard's Song of the Decade (2000-2010). Mariah recorded the climax (where she went UP) in just one take and you guys, you have no idea of what she can do or what she did vocally + SHE WROTE AND PRODUCED THAT SONG. The song's album, "The Emancipation of Mimi" was the best selling album by solo artist in 2005 and the best selling album of the year in the United States.

Lex R I’m not a fan of hers but here’s the deal: just because the music press or the tabloids try to impose a “failure” narrative on an artist who every Christmas consistently rakes in the $$$ and tops the charts doesn’t mean that it’s ACTUALLY the case. That narrative that was pushed hard at the time was possibly related to her divorce from a CEO of Sony Entertainment and the systemic misogyny in entertainment news outlets than anything else. As for her hiring a team to do the album: she could afford to do so and that’s how the business was starting to be run. Beyonce did and does the same?

@zlauriault4 жыл бұрын
For anyone who's thinking what is the whistle octave, there are notes so high that when a soprano hits them it has been nicknamed "whistling." Singers rarely have the technique to do it outside of opera. A classic example of real "whistling" is in the soprano "Queen of the Night" aria in Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) by Mozart. Another gorgeous aria in the same opera is "Ach, Ich fuls" (Oh, I feel) which was my final voice exam one semester in music school for classical voice. It's gorgeous.

This is not even her best song lol. Y'all should listen to Emotions to see just how incredible her vocal range is. Mariah is a legend. Her career/achievements are unmatchable. She truly inspired a whole generation of singers. From Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, Bruno Mars, Pink, Mary J Blige, Brandy, Nelly Furtado, Lady Gaga, Kate Perry, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Jessica Simpson, Sam Smith, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and the list goes on. I mean even the Legendary Stevie Wonder. Who said “When people talk about the great influential singers, they talk about Aretha, Whitney and Mariah”. Not to mention having 19 #1 hits on the Billboard hot 100 (Most by any solo artist in history) and being one of the best selling artist of all-time. She is more than just whistle notes. She creates her music. Writes her songs. She has actually Written or co-written many songs that has appeared on her albums. Including “We belong together”. She’s also acknowledged by the World Music Awards, as the biggest-selling recording artist of the millennium (1990-1999) and the “Best-selling artist of the 90s", Five-time Grammy award winner. And the list goes. Could you please react to 10 times Mariah Carey forgot she was human?👈🏼
