My mother took me to The Door concert in Tucson, AZ in 1968 - I was 6 months old. She said I was cranky with the opening band, but when The Doors came out, I relaxed & enjoyed them. Until about 1/2 way through, the bad acid that was being passed around starting kicking in & they cancelled & sent everyone home. LOVE The Doors! So glad you found them!

The line about Mr Mojo Rising goes back to the blues. Muddy Waters had a blues song years ago called Got My Mojo Working, so the song could have been a nod to him. Muddy helped inspire countless rock bands, including the Rolling Stones who got their name from another one of his songs.

I've watched the 3 videos you done on The Doors. I'm not sure you totally get them. They came on the scene in 1966. The tone of their music reflected the times. The summer of love occurred in 1967. It was a time of experimentation, sex, drugs, and rock and roll. If, you listen to their cover of Willie Dixon's, Back Door Man, you will hear they were influenced by blues music. Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger, and John Densmore were classically trained musicians. Robbie Krieger, the guitarist played classical flamenco guitar which you will hear strains of it in some of their other songs. Ray Manzarek played a Vox Continental combo organ. Because they did not have a bass player, Ray Manzarek used a Fender Rhodes piano bass. If, you look at John Densmore playing drums, you will see he did not hold the sticks the way most drummers do. I would encourage you to listen to The Soft Parade, The End, Peace Frog, and my very favorite song of theirs, Indian Summer.

Welcome to the LA the rest of us grew up in. His description of Los Angeles is so accurate. Mr mojo risin’, re arrange the letters it spells Jim Morrison the vocalist.

From there last album. Doors never performed this song live. Think this came out 1971

Actually it was performed live, their second to last gig in Dallas on Dec 11, 1970. The track on the recording I have is 15:38 long. They also did Love Her Madly and The Changeling at this same show. Rumours are that there was a second set and they played Riders on the Storm but no recording has surfaced of that. Their final show was in New Orleans which is where Jim supposedly smashed up the microphone on the stage and Ray said it was like his spirit left his body. You should check out the Dallas recording. While the sound isn't fantastic by any stretch, its still enjoyable to here live versions of those 3 songs from the LA Woman LP.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that if you rearrange the letters in Mr. Mojo Risin' you get Jim Morrison. My favorites are "5 to 1" "Universal Soldier" and "Maggie McGill".

The musicians were jazz based before rock and roll. They have never sold out to commercials. They were poetry set to music.. I get chills every time I hear the music.
