OK NO SERIOUSLY! I requested this! My sister passed away after a long battle with cancer this year... we were best friends and this was the song I chose to play at her service. I was having SUCH a sad day today and missing her especially heading into the first holiday season without her. Thank you this made my day. Donny Hathaway was a troubled soul but a fantastic artist. He surpassed being just a singer. He was a musical masterpiece. This is one of my favorites, but "Giving Up" is my absolute favorite. He could draw out a song like no other and leave you jonesing for the following note. Check it out, but before that, check out him singing A Change Is Going to Come. It was one of if not the last songs he ever recorded. Many have covered, but few have brought me to tears the way his version does. MASTERPIECE!!! Edit: I fell down the Donny rabbit hold. Another song for you to consider is " I love more than you'll ever know."

Oh Donny Hathaway was the most superb singer: voice, interpretation, musicianship. Taken far too soon. I think both Stevie Wonder and George Benson were deeply influenced by him. He deserves to have legendary status, but many haven’t heard of him, even in my 'older' generation

Donny is one of the most instrumental voices ever. His soul come through in his lyrics. He was so awake and his music was relevant to are awakening during the Civil rights movement and the years that immediately followed.
