I’m 17, Pre-professional, I’ve been practicing in order to go to a professional ballet school later this year. The thing is, this past month I’ve been feeling really anxious and tired that I skip classes, have no wiling to go to class or dance, and been crying everyday. I don’t know if I want to do this anymore but I might regret if I stop. I’ve been eating badly (I have to lose weight) and haven’t been practicing enough. I say to myself take your time and try to think if you want to do this but all I get is frustration and disappointment. Don’t know what to dο...😢 plus I have panic attacks.

Hi Danae, I'm so sorry to hear this! Thank you for sharing. I know this transition you're going through can understandably bring up a lot of fear and anxiety. Have you considered working with a mindset coach or therapist? Working with someone who can help you resolve the fears and anxieties that hold you back from taking action towards your goals after getting crystal clear on what you really want can truly change a dancer's life and the trajectory of their career.

TwinTalksBallet I know that a therapist could be good and helpful but my parents already pay enough for ballet and I don’t want to force them into paying for therapy as it is already super expensive.

@@dkied1419 paying for a therapist is necessary, I'm also 17, I'm also pre professional and I've been having anxiety because this year I couldn't make it as a soloist, my opinion on this is that if your anxiety is keeping you from working hard towards your goals (this isn't my case right now) you'll end up achieving nothing and more depressed than before, so, if paying for a therapist will make paying for ballet classes worth it, then do it. Being healthy physically and mentally is very important for ballet.

Cam Molina I know it’s necessary. And expensive af. But there like free counseling on every city in my country so I’ll search it.
