The ricochet bombs on New York were so awesome. One of my favorite childhood gaming memories was when my childhood best friend came over to hang out for the first time in a few years (we had grown apart a bit after he moved out of town), and we popped TM2 in and played 1v1 on New York with ricochets only. We couldn't stop laughing and had a blast for hours before his dad came and picked him up.

I found a secret in this game. I've never seen anyone else use it, or any record of another player finding it. So here we go: when dark tooth is defeated, prior to the head fight, go invisible (right, down, left, up). For the fight against the head you will be half invisible. For some characters its barely noticeable, some half, some mostly invisible. Anyways, hope someone tries this, it's been 26 years and I've never seen another player do it.

I always thought Axel's ending was incredibly profound for something so brief, dumb, and pulpy. His whole little story arc in 2 to me was always about the subtext that in the end, the true prison was always his own mind. Whatever went on with him and his father, he was more afraid of him than Calypso and his tournament, and had such an incredible effect on him mentally that he doesn't even explicitly wish to be free, he just wants the courage to face him. That, and ripping his arms out of the machine and holding his broken, jagged arm bone to his absolutely fucking flabbergasted dad's throat while yelling "I AM A FREE MAN, AND YOU ARE NO LONGER MY FATHER" is one of the most metal things I've ever seen in my life.

I enjoyed PS1 era more than any other Sony era , even though PS2 Is close and had more good games PS1 and 5th gen's best games In general felt more organic , unique , revolutionary , and overall more memorable. I remember the christmas I got this game. It was perfect. Hard and you really had to know the car, the special moves and the maps to win. It was the best Twisted Metal game and NOTHING has come close since. The comic/cartoon intro and endings was also amazing.

Back in the day, at our epic LAN party sessions either at my friends house with just 6-7 of us most weekends, to the later LANS with 25+ of us all renting out a warehouse once a month, we played the same games pretty much all the time. A Quake / Quake III session, an Unreal Tournament session for the girls that couldn't handle Quake, some Total Annihilation and Starcraft, Battlefield 1942 and COD, Medal of Honour Allied Assault and also some Rollcage, Screamer 2, TOCA etc. THEN one day, I downloaded Twisted Metal 2 from some pirate FTP and played the shit out of it all week. Had a complete blast. At our next LAN, I shared the folder and convinced everyone to download it from the network, and it became a mainstay for us for a year or more. EVERYONE looked forward to that Twisted Metal 2 slot at the LANS. Complete madness and carnage. Truly great concept and fun deathmatch. Part Carmageddon, part Demolition Derby, part ... I don't fucking know but it was awesome.

One of my favorite games of all time. I played this game so often we found useful glitches, like the ability to shock people through the walls with the environmental weapon in Tokyo. And we made our own game, using the freeze weapon to play tag. Man that was fun

I highly recommend Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012. The passenger mechanic introduces a new intensity to play, it forces you to be aggressive when you're damaged if you wanna grab the tourist to get paid and heal.

One of the best games ever. Mr. Slam was my jam. My friends and I used to co-op this game constantly back in the day. We used to camp in the Eiffel Tower, backs against the corners of that transporter room. Soon as someone entered, my friend would freeze him and I would move in and use the slam attack to throw him out of the tower. Lather, rinse, repeat, occasionally mixing it up with some ricochets or power missiles. Yes, it was absolute cheese. However, we knew just how difficult the rest of the game was, so we considered it a sound tactic just to get us to the next level quicker. Freeze attacks were a must for us - it shocked me to see you play through this whole thing without using it once! Napalm gets a bad rap IMO - we used to use it right next to the AI vehicles to light them on fire, then turbo away to put out the fire on ourselves. Machine guns are also overlooked - yeah, they don't do much damage, but they do erode the health bar with no cost, and every little bit counts in this game. Thanks for showcasing this absolute classic gem!

TM2 taught me two things when I was 10.. 1. Your hands can sweat waaaay more than you realize. 2. Camp. Camping out in bad situations is key. Let a lot of the noise out there run its coarse. They may call you names, but you'll be alive.

If I remember correctly, using the level code brings you back to that level with full lives. Which may be why you remember the windmill level being easier. When I was younger I would lose all my lives on Antarctica and new york, but could always just reload the Holland and get thru no problem

This and MK2 were my favorites back in the day. My friend and I were like Beavis and Butthead as we played 2 player co-op, calling Specter "Sphincter" and yelling "remember the Alamo!" Going off the building in New York. I have the dpad combos for stuff like rear fire, ice missiles, jump and minion (mini-onion back in the 90s) special burned into my brain where Alzheimer's couldn't even touch it. Eventually learned all the secret codes for unlocking vehicles and maps and the secret best weapon homing napalm! What a trip down memory lane this was, made my night.

You should have your machine guns firing at all times. The special moves are a huge help. Jumping; up, up, left. The freeze blast; left, right, up. Backwards freeze blast; left, right, down. Freezing someone then nailing them with Mr. Grim's special is like a cheat code. Or, use the actual cheat codes and play as Minion and decimate everyone easily.

One of the best PS1 games and definitely the best in the Twisted Metal series. I secretly played this many times when I would visit my friend down the street back in the day and eventually on my own time when my parents finally let me play it at home lol. I still have it with the original booklet that came with it filled with written cheat codes. Good times

My dad, brother, and I would play this game for HOURS!! TM2 is the best one with hidden rooms, rooms you could activate lightning and other items to kills enemies, and destructible structures. I remember, sometimes I'd just stop playing the match so I could blow up stuff. TM2 also had the best endings. I love the type of moving pictures they did. They were way better then the rest. Oh, and yes, I did the Paris cheat too.
