To give you an idea how dangerous an EF5 is, I recommend watching the documentary on the 2011 Joplin Missouri EF5. It devastated the entire town including severe damage to the hospital, and wiped entire neighborhoods off the surface of the Earth. There’s a particular story about an infant that was horrifying. Another interesting tornado was the 1997 Jarrell Texas “Dead Man Walking” F5 multi-vortex tornado.

Tornadoes are famous for multiple breakouts. If you ever watch the weather channels you can see how many times there are many tornadoes in a row. In 1974 there 148 tornadoes in 13 states and Canada, on April 3 and 4. There were 30+ F4 and F5 tornadoes. The second largest outbreak in recorded history.

The movie came out in 1996, I lived in Tallahassee the day I watched this and there were possible tornado warnings it was such bad weather. Watching this on the big screen with surround sound was incredible and scary. I’m such a baby when it comes to bad weather, my aunt who was taking care of us made us get in the bed with the covers over us until the storm passed.

It’s not that difficult. The first couple of times, they didn’t have enough time to get the rig ready for deployment. It takes some time to set it up in order for it to work, and the first couple of tornadoes caught them off guard before they could do it. They were all in the truck driving by the time they got anywhere near the tornadoes the second time, what were they supposed to do jump out of the truck while it’s moving into the back?

I went to Orlando and went on the Twister ride/experience. It was fun. The closest I ever got to an actual tornado, and after watching many documentaries about the devastation they can do, I hope it stays that way. For more disaster movies, I highly recommend a little volcano action in "Dante's Peak", starring Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton. Top notch movie-making magic.

I know this is your first watch, but the tornado hit them when the drive-in was open, and then the same tornado hit her aunt's house so they were close by. By the time the ambulance was leaving and she had the idea how to make Dorothy fly it probably wasn't even midnight yet. So they had all night and into the next day to make the improvements, and it wasn't just one guy it was their whole team making them. So you do the math, at least 4 people working on them for maybe 10 hours each, does that now seem like an acceptable amount of time for you? I don't know why it bothered me so much that you were critical of this scene because there's so much in this movie where you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy it (like in every action movie), maybe it's because if you were picking apart this scene that actually seems possible for a team of dedicated scientists to accomplish, the rest of this reaction is going to be painful to watch once this movie really ramps up the action.

I love this movie it's 28 years old and still looks incredible lol Fun fact this was the first movie to be put onto DVD lol That little girl in the beginning is Alexa Vega This is basically a 2 hour commercial for Ram Trucks and I love it lol 14:06 going from storm chasing to a weatherman is considered a downgrade to them 18:00 "can i drive?" "No" "then would you?" Lol 19:00 yes this is made as practical as possible but all tornados are cgi 19:07 the rest of the crew vehicles stay back while the Jeep truck tries to get in front of the tornado. Melissa is at the very back of that convoy so she's relatively safe 20:10 "why can't we spend a normal day together?" Lol 21:12 "where's my truck?" "There it is" lol 24:16 that was back when they still used analog signals wirh cell phones. I remember growing up in Montana my mom, younger brother and myself would drive to my grandparents place and my mom had a bag phone. It didnt matter where we were, the top of a hill or in the bottom of one she had service. It also had 3 watts of power, vs todays phones where you barely get 1/4 of a watt lol 25:50 there was an idea to make that cow a zebra instead to tie it into Jumanji which came out a year before this but they decided against it lol 29:56 I've heard that after this came out so many people decided to go into meteorology 33:05 the reason that was taking so long to setup was because he was taking the ratchet straps off so they could unload it as quick as possible lol 34:54 i think it's PTSD which when you're that young, i could see it happening 36:44 they're not paying attention as much because tornados at night are incredibly rare, but they do happen and nobody realizes it 37:51 thats easily one of the best shots of the movie 40:55 back then the warning was only 3 mins if that on some cases 44:00 you might've missed it but their fingers are all bandaged up from cutting those cans lol 47:00 "debris?!" And yes they did go through a house set as practicality as possible lol 48:35 those are actually fence posts going into the barn which actually happens I've seen pictures of one that went through a concrete curb it's insane You can actually see the path the tornado took at the end

I remember getting irrationally mad because during the scene where they're driving and Deep Purple is playing loudly on the TV, the video is from the California Jam, but the audio is from Made in Japan. I always thought I was the only nutcase nitpicker who noticed that until I saw it pointed out in the IMDB trivia. Like you did on the beginning, I also tended to confuse Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster. Both so brilliant and so beautiful. I didn't seem to notice the sound issues in the video and I really loved the energy you have when you're in the same room. Here's hoping for more reactions like that. Twisters is just as good of a movie. A really tough thing to pull off for a legacy sequel.

Some 90's movies. Maybe there is a couple here you have not yet seen. Tried to make it a wide variety. The matrix Rounders The sandlot Good will hunting The truman show The shawshank redemption Happy gilmore She's all that The bodyguard Independance day A league of their own Field of dreams Dances with wolves Babe The usual suspects P.s. Twister is a top 20 movie of all time for me personally. It is mainly a vibes of the movie thing for me. The sequel is good but i still prefer the nostalgia/music/characters of the OG.

You DO NOT have this type of lawn ornament in Tornado Alley. This was before the tornado warning systems we have now. I saw the aftermath of the 1965 tornado outbreak. It was ugly. The debris field would have taken them out. But, it makes an exciting movie.

'Helen Hunt' Is pretty good in 'What Women Want'😉 Watching this as a kid always made me want to move to the states and be a storm chaser🙂 And the question of whether something will take flight is a simple math equation, basically if the surface area has a larger value than the weight it will fly😁

This was the perfect theater film, it had THX sound and everything..and Bill had the new model Dodge truck that made the previous model look like a mail truck. This film spawned the disaster film craze.

So this was 50 minutes of two people that have no clue about Tornadoes questioning and even ridiculing a movie about Tornadoes. Yeah, it's not totally accurate and is full of cliches, but there's a lot in the movie that was pretty close. Tornado warnings in the 80's/90's weren't very good. They've gotten a lot better in the last 20 years or so in part to dedicated storm chasers. To understand how massive and unpredictable Tornadoes can be, the El Rino Tornado in 2013 was 2.6 miles wide and had multiple "satellite" vortex (these were larger than an average tornado themselves) that orbited around the main vortex. It was very erratic and was the first tornado that killed any storm chasers. One of the storm chasers (Tim Samaras) was one of the most experienced storm chaser with over two decades.

It's a movie...it's made for entertainment...and it was made more than 30 years ago. It is no surprise to me that your subs are as low as they are. Try eliminating the negative tone and just enjoy the films...your channel has potential and would certainly grow if you did that.
