probably the best application for this would be in augmented reality, VR gloves usually just use wire attached to gloves to act as potentiometers and hold the fingers back to simulate grabbing objects. Implement this technology into a glove and you could easily build an augmented reality gloves with a headset that simulate holding real objects, very cool.

This could also be used on the arms, legs and torso to help simulate pressure and compression touch. (Like touching a wall and feel the push back along your hand and arm. Or feeling someone rest a hand on you.
@alexanderwoolley16232 жыл бұрын
@@memesfromdeepspace1075 no not really, there's been a lot of development in VR technology simulating the grabbing of objects, both the position of the fingers and restriction of joints being formed into one system is quite challenging, and usually results in clunky designs that offer very little practicality. However with this artificial muscle you could weave a webbing of it in something similar to a baseballers catching glove to be able to simulate the holding of objects and the position of hand movement in VR, allowing for far more compact designs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5uXmaSIgM6sbsk here's an example of the gloves.

I can see this used for fast compression in case of injuries or to stabilise a broken limb. If you cover them in some bullet proof material, you could have slip-on armor. Imagine people in slaughterhouses who use chain mail gloves, you could have one size fits all type of gloves adapting to each person using them during a 3 shift day . The applications seem endless.

From the look of it, they have multiple tube to inflate and contract the thing I wonder if you can adjust the pressure of each tube so you can allow it to bend and and have more control over the shape of it. like an adruino that stop each valve accordingly with motor applying pressure on the tube. That will be neat.

Peristaltic movement comes to mind when I see the way it pulsates. I wonder if a brain interface could give AI feedback into how much pleasure is felt in order to produce certain movement patterns that adjust to the wearers experience. Such line of smart sex toys could be an interesting direction, a first of its kind that might become a staple like the Hitachi magic wand or the Fleshlight. Considering the Hitachi magic wand started as a muscle relief a similar direction could also be interesting, a first idea that comes to mind would be a smart vest with the back portion being a grid interlaced with vibrating bullets sort of like accupressure points, or maybe perhaps suction cups, with the capability of adjusting to feedback from some sort of brain interface for optimal pressure, vibration, temperature, patterns, tightness, adherence... Being able to relieve a muscle in the best possible way will always have room for improvement... Massage and wellness wearables for the office... Perhaps something for people that stand all day as well, anti varicose smart compression socks perhaps that detect and correct spider veins... So many ideas. I wish to see the full possibilities being explored, my shoulders are killing me, maybe a posture collar that rewarded good gait with a nice massage...
