I really like your take on it. Sadly I doubt Elon thinks that deep. My main issue is that there's now a huge disconnect between the name "Twitter" and the X. My take on the new X logo means to close Twitter and do something better with your time 😁

You're right. There isn't much meaning behind "X", it's just an unhealthy obsession Musk seems to have with the letter. He tried to get PayPal to be called X before he was booted out. Then with tesla he had the Model X. Also SpaceX, xAI. Even his son is named X. It's really weird. There definitely hasn't been a whole elaborate thought process where the concept of "x marks the spot" came in to play or anything like that. It's just the whims of a billionaire who seems to have lost the plot but has enough money to keep convincing a people that he still knows what he's doing. 😐

The logo kinda screams "I peaked at the point where I was drew that line art S in all my notebooks." I can't take away from the fact that he's still one of the richest men on the planet, but holy shit he makes everything he touches uncool.

The purpose of Twitter is to tell "what are you doing" in few letters. The bird made sense because Twitting and they are small animals that pass by and tell something. I like your story behind your X logo. I don't know why Elon Musk didn't ask a logo designer.

I think the visual feel matters too much. The X that you created fits with the feel of the activities that happens on Twitter but the current X shows a different feel. Your story with your X logo fits very well but not with the current X logo.

Removing the bird was the biggest downgrade in modern design history. Soulless is the word. Just placing a meaningless X void from attachment. Not even a new start, just lack of identity. It is floating between 2 project attempting to replace the ''old'' with a not yet determined or certain new.

The rebranding/logo redesign is why I never fully committed to a design profession. In every company, everyone is a designer and true designers are reduced to renderers. This is rebranding at its worst.

It sounds the missing information that Marketing Team forgot to share :D but despite that I've never seen a rebrand like this where the term "twitter" became a verb as primary tool of the new era of communication to....still keeping its core functions and planning to become the super app like Wechat(asian version). My opinion is we will still use the term twitter till the next generations :D Aka we're getting old.

I just think the brand recognition of the bird was too good to loose. Having “twitter” “tweet” and “retweet” become accepted and unique words for using your platform as opposed to other social media was such an advantage. “X” is just so nothing to me and “posts” “reposts” sound so generic. You post on facebook, insta, tumblr, reddit. It just feels like an Elon ego trip. He wants it to be his more than he wants it to be good

Just a little tip: i saw your spline animation was not smooth.... I m guessing you tried to move the whole camera... Instead what you should do is just make two cameras... And there is an option to transition from cam1 to cam2 in spline (i forgot its exact name) Also... While exporting, you should instead export "image sequences" instead of the lossy formats (if you haven't already). Then mix them together with FFMPEG. It's much cleaner trust me. ❤

Dude, I did it all in under 1 hour :) The looking around the logo part wasn't an animation, it was more of an overview of how the shape looks in spline - screen recorded :)

@@MalewiczHype first, mad respect for having it done in under an hour. Second, I was talking about the very first frames of the video and 2:11 ...and it looks dope, just not very smooth. Also, the two camera thing can be applied in no time, I learned it back in the day when I wanted to export my logo animation at 60 or 120fps.

You lowering one side of the X makes it look a little bit out of balance; think you would have to play with the lengths of all the "legs" of the ex - even if it would be proportionally incorrect, it would look better to our imperfect eyes.

X is “ make your mark” it substituted for a signature. In a sense it is the universal signature for everyone. In another it’s a commentary about the the facelessness of everyone on the platform.

your concept is cool but has a fundamental mistake. This isn't a rebrand but a change in product. He doesn't want the company to be only be about social media. he wants it to be a superapp like wechat. your logo is completely based on it being the same company. I also think Mr Musk feels the product is bigger than it's logo and marketing. he's always focused on the product and let word of mouth spread. He did that with Tesla, when automotive comanies where sending hundreds of millions on marketing, Musk spent ziltch. When Elon said F*** U to the russians about the expensive rockets and set of to build his own, everyone laughed at him and now look. SpaceX has the potential to be the most valuable compnay in the world within a few decades. He maybe wants that rush again to build another life changing product for billions. He doesn't need money anymore, he lives for other intagible things

Nah. You just reviewed the X logo as if it were for a new company, but it is not. I think it is extremely necessary to first review the old branding, to understand how good or bad it was and the reasons behind this new change. So, in conclusion, this is a disappointing rebrand, one of the worst ever in human kind. X logo is a completely piece of shit.

I like the design you did more than just 𝕏... It might change over time, but currently searching for either "x" or "𝕏" brings up more about the movie, a punk rock band or even Xbox X than it does about the 140-character message company. People have also found at $30 font, which has a U+1D54F character looking almost pixel-perfect to the current logo.

Yeah, the unicode character itself is not violating copyright, but using a rendition of it from a non-licensed font can get them in trouble. It's a silly thing they did.
