It is working great so far, it's a 300 series low profile. It don't hold as much line as a round reel but I don't have to cast a 100 yards either. It's way lighter than a regular round reel too.

Great info on fishing flood waters! I love fishing high water for cats, once you know what to look for they're usually stacked in those spots and it can create some fast action.

Longest flathead fight ever recorded 😉👍. We cant get anywhere near the river bank or creek mouth, its all underwater. Channel cats and small blues in flooded fields and on gravel roads is the best we can do without a boat. Nice Flathead to stary the year.👍

I have a rippin lips rod but it's medium action, not the medium heavy. Mainly for channel cats where I live. What baitcasting reel would you recommend for a medium action rippin lips rod? Would the thunder real that you're using be a little much for the medium action rods?

They would work great with medium actions! I have Abu 6600 BCX's spooled with 25# Cajun Red on my medium RL combo's. Piscifun has some new models coming, I am waiting to see what they come with before I swap out reels.
