@@TonyBMan It's explained in the true ending you get when you beat the game 3 times with each alignment that due to the binding of Mantorok, his powers were limited to subtle manipulation instead of overt action; it's stated that this influence was direct in the case of the Roivas family, and by extension the other character in the game you play. Mantorok was spending the entire game neutralizing the other Ancients by building up the book, such that it's agents over time would accumulate power and thus be able to eventually be in the right place, at the right time, to take out Pious and the Ancients. It was no accident that the Roivas Estate is built directly over the entrance to the city of the Ancients.

No, Pious teleported him to the altar, and via Ulyaoth magick Luther killed the Custodian. Like literally, the Custodian woke up on that altar and then just spontaneously watched his chest get gashed open. DARKNESS FACT: Xel'lotah is voiced by two people - Jennifer Hale (Alexandra Roivas) being one of them and Kim Mai Guest (Ellia) being the other. She's not the only Ancient to share voice actors with a protagonist - Chattur'gha and Michael Edwards, whom we'll meet later, share the same voice actor (Greg Eagles). As for Ulyaoth, he shares the same voice actor as Pious Augustus (Richard Doyle).

I've played through Eternal Darkness before, so I was laughing the entire time while Pat and Matt were preparing for that "boss fight". "Oh, I forgot, he kills you and you don't fight at all." XD You couldn't have remembered that *before* all that preparation?

Y'know, normally I don't give them grief for stuff they miss or puzzle crap they don't get right away, because I enjoy watching them fumble around like goofballs, but...I forgot how crazy it made me to watch them dick around with the spells. I'm super late to this but I 100% agree. Not with getting crazy thing though. I find all of their fumbling only enhances the ensuing hilarity. Pat said something similar to the "fire beats grass, etc, etc" thing earlier in the playthrough but i imagine it's been so long and with all these runes everywhere and everything else that's happened that having to be entertaining and argumentative with each other is super difficult and they probably just forget. Shit happens but, *damn*, people in the comments be cray-cray.

Mika Hill Yeah, that's why I never said they suck for it. They tend to flip back and forth between games, so I'm sure it all becomes a gray smudge of gameplay after a certain point. There've been several times where they're like, "Holy shit we haven't played this game for a couple of weeks, how do how do how do???" because enough time has passed that they almost forget how to play. So even though it made me crazy to watch, knowing exactly what they needed to do, it's fine. People who actually lose their shit and go, "GOD YOU GUYS SUCK AT VIDEOGAMES" whenever they make mistakes need to just relax, honestly. Besides, the moment where they figure it out and go, "WOW WE'RE IDIOTS OH MY GOD" makes it totally worth enduring.

but the whole pokemon element system is something that, once you learn, you never forget.....but TBF seems to forget simple elemental tables UNRELATED to this game in between sessions, which is baffling. These 'survival horror' walkthroughs are the best. It's always great to see something or somebody new, but when it comes down, original Matt and Pat are the hypest.

I think Luther is one of the stronger charactrs in the game. He has no health, but tons of Magic, and you get the tome before you have to fight, and it contains all the runes (minus the pargon rune) so he can already cast all spells except for summoning Zombies and Horrors. Just Keep the magick-Regeneration spell active for even more magick, then shield on to be safe while you throw down a barrier everytime you enter an area with enemies, so they damage themselves when they attack you and finish them off from the safety of your triangle. you can even throw in a few Magic attacks for good messure. If you use the mantorok rune he is even more op. during my last few playthroughs i took no damage at all and didnt enchant my items a single time with him.

+proclarushtaonasat the main annoying thing about his, and peter jacobs chapters is that monsters show up before you get a wepon, and you could spend a while looking for one if you dont know where they are ,jacobs part is harder since there are bonetheives everywhere and all you have is a gun thats pretty much useless as they can dodge bullets, although having the mantorok rune is helpful if you know about the invisibility trick

The thing with Silicon Knights' fall from grace, I assume, is that while others like Retro Studios learned from Nintendo's involvement in their game when it didn't reach up to the company's standards, Silicon Knights didn't, and as such, Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes, the two games they made while under Nintendo's wings remains as their only noteable achievements.

I thought the same thing. I pictured the situation as a family, like, Pat is the father, Woolie the mother and Matt their son. Pat is being harsh on Matt, because he is angry all the time (and probably drinks), while Woolie is super tired and can't deal with shit anymore, even so, she tries to encourage her son so he doesn't get too depressed under the pressure his father deposits upon him. Man, Matt comes from a broken home alright.
