Two Color Brioche Knitting Pattern - Easy Brioche Knit

The classic two color brioche knitting pattern tutorial. Reversible,versatile and fun for alkyds of projects.
/// INSTRUCTIONS:
2 color Brioche Stitch
K1.- knit 1
yo.- yarn over
yow.- yarn over by wrapping the yarn around the right needle.
p2tog.- purl 2 crossed stitches together.
Repeat from * to
Notes:
All the “slip 1” are done purlwise.
This stitch is done with 2 double-pointed needles or circular needles.
Slide stitches: Slide stitches to the other side of double-pointed needles without turning work.
Use needle size one number larger than what the yarn calls for.
Color 1: Cast on an EVEN number of stitches.
Base Row.- Color #1.- knit row
K1, k1, *yo, slip 1, k1 Slide stitches.
Row 1.- Color #2.- purl row
K1, yarn to front Slip 1, yow, p2tog end with k1. Turn work.
Row 2.- Color #1.- purl row
K1, yarn to front *slip 1, yow, p2tog*, end with k1. Slide stitches.
Row 3.- Color #2.- knit row
K1, k2 tog, yo, slip 1 with yarn in front, end with k1. Turn work.
Row 4.- Color #1.- knit row
K1, *k2tog, yo, slip1*, with yarn in front, end with k1. Slide stitches.
Repeat these 4 rows.
When you finish your work, end on row #2. You will have the 2 working yarns on the same side. To bind off, you can use the 2 strands held together or only one.
Cast (bind) off loosely by knitting the single stitches and purling the double stitches.

The written directions say to cast on an odd number of sts, but the video says to CO an EVEN number. Go with the even number! BTW this was the BEST video on how to do brioche. I might even understand it now! Thank you!

A tip to anyone trying to do this - I actually went to my stash and got a cream and a light purple yarn - or light blue-ish - and using the two colors she is using really helps me learn this stitch! I have not done so in the past - but this video is so good as it starts at the very beginning- explains cast on, set up, and all four rows and goes slowly enough you can follow it..just pause it as needed...and truly learn two color brioche! I am laughing at myself that I get so excited to learn a new stitch - but this one has eluded me for a long time. Love this channel!

Your method is very clear to me. Many videos show casting on an odd number of stitches, as opposed to an even number as you are doing here, not sure what the reason for the difference, but the even number seems more sensible to me. I guess the extra cast on stitch has to do with a selvage edge. Would you mind doing a video showing how to do a two color brioche with a tidy selvage edge please? Much appreciated. Thanks!

What size and brand of doubles are you using? I don’t see any doubles on your amazon page. Also, what would be a good size of doubles to start with for a first timer of Brioche knitting? You cast on the stitches you need and work the brioche until you have the same hight as with. If you mean starting from the center out, that's another whole game!
