The Drake Cutter was my introduction into Satr Citizen, and I loved that ship. It was hard for me to upgrade my pledge when the Vulture came out. I honestly would get it again for the exploration version. It was a good little daily driver, for sure.

i do believe that the Cutter would be ideal for a medical variant, more in line with the C8R Pisces, where it swaps out that cargo for 2 fold away/deployable medical gravlev stretchers wish a tier 3 medical bed and terminal in place of the player bed, and if they swap out the lockers for a medical storage it would be something that could give Drake fans a more affordable alternative ship which can be landed on some upcoming larger ships and existing ships such as the 890j

The exploration variant of this is probably only for scouting away from that main ship or ground camp. I see this as a short range scout exploration ship. I'll probably upgrade to it when it comes out.

The difference between the Cutter "scout" and the Terrapin is the scout doesn't have one stupid gigantic chair soaking up 80% of it's internal volume. What they have in common however, is that CIG continue to pursue the moronic fixation on splitting single-player ships/vehicles into multiple stations.

Thanks for the video! Very informative and well put together with lots of detail as always. I'm looking forward to the scout variant and the titan suit. I've become a fan of the little space rv and use it to travel long distances quickly while leaving my larger ships on station where I use them most. The larger component in the back of the scout is definitely a cooler as you can see the cooling tubes characteristic to that part type. It makes sense since the scanner would generate a lot of heat and need to be cooled accordingly. Hopefully it will carry as much or more fuel than the base variant. Been looking for a daily driver with a useful game play loop that doesn't cost a lot to operate and this looks cool too!

@@Space-Tech i think the biggest difference will be durability. The Terrapin is a tank, literally! Cost will be another factor, given the quality of the ship, intended purpose (meaning military vs civilian use) and ability of the likely more robust scanner, I think those will be what sets them apart. Entry level vs more experienced. Still, that may not be much of a difference in the end considering they are close in size and scope.

Cutter variants make a lot of sense, it's the easily the best and highest standard starter ship they've made (I dont count the Nomad as a true starter due the higher price) so using it to give beginners access to hopefully low priced specialist ships makes a lot of sense, plus its a very Drake move.

There is a third variant if you looked at the leaks. Externally similar to the current cargo one but if you take a look at the leak the cargo area is not the same. Showing 4 large fixed containers as well as different layout.

@@Space-Tech Been discussing it a lot last night. The 4 containers looks perma fitted. They don't stick cargo scu containers on internal image plans. They are also too large to be scu containers. Part of me thinks maybe some sort of refuelling ship. Since there is a ground refuelling port on the Cutter for ground vehicles maybe this is what it will be? Maybe a small ship refueler (no refuelling boom though). It's had us stumped to be honest but those 4 pods are perma fixed so they must hold something specialist? An alternate theory is the images are fairly old and it was an earlier concept image of what we have now for the Cargo Cutter. Same as the Scout and Expedition and someone has just found them and released them?

i think the cutter scout will be a lower signature and less armor where the terrapin will have heavier armor and a stronger radar.... that's it they'll fill similar roles but have different edges, basically a side grade to each other

Honestly, except for its lack of weapons, I love this ship for simple things. The base version is a great starting ship, since it has multiple sizes of FPS weapon racks, a bed, cargo bay, external storage, and can transport vehicles. The VTOL is also good for larger ship training, though it's small enough that it usually doesn't need it. I am excited to see the new explorer version.

About the terminal in the cargo hold, as it looks like displaying component info, might it simply be a screen for easy info about component health so you know what to repair without getting back into the pilot seat to check it? (Once the repair function is implemented ofc, just that the screen is added as preparation) Also, weird that the beds in the variants are facing the other way compared to the normal Cutter, but i take that as being due to older concept images.

Likely another variant could be planned as we originally only knew of the Cutter and Cutter Expedition and now we have the new Scout model. It could be that CIG is planning a fourth Cutter. It does you have to look at the floor cutaway to see it's location, one will have the fold away toilet and the other a standard.

MSR needs to be faster in atmo. Also a medical variant would be pretty cool. It’s not maneuverable enough to do combat.. so maybe a cargo variant too. I feel like the space could’ve been used better. The little sneaking around tunnels is neat.. but kinda a waste. Also the elevator should go in favor of stairs. If they wanted a smuggler ship they should’ve just designed it that way fully. Multiple hidden cargo rooms. The one on the MSR is so small. It also doesn’t work at shielding scans yet.

These ships need 2 more weapons hardpoints. Take out the missile racks and replace them with 2 more size 2 hard points and 1 more sheild generator and it would be a ship worth buying. When will CIG learn that people will always shy away from spending money on ships with very low pilot controlled dps. The Arauras would be a better choice because of better dps.

starter space truck with no cargo is a bananas idea and an example of SC having terrible design choices, this is a one time "look at this ship" design, nobody is going to run this on a long term basis, NOBODY! why dont they simply make a cargo runner and a mining runner... make one to fit cargo, and make one to fit an ROC, its THAT simple, new players that want to get into these things NNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD a ship like that, not something they might use once or twice then refund the game. the only good starter ship for ROC mining is the nomad... like wtf???? it doesnt fit the bill, its not a truck its just a ship that has something we need that looks like a silly concept ship, star citizens design team need a firm boot up the rear end.
