Amanda, I want to buy a water bath steamer. I'm looking at the heavy bottom stainless steel ones. Do you have a opinion stainless verses aluminum? Aluminum has a gauge on it . stainless is heavy bottom. yea or nay?

I would actually recommend you start with a steam canner. So much easier, same processing times as water bath, less water which makes it less heavy to carry and the water heats up so much faster.

If you really want to water bath can - then look at a large stainless steel pot. Because you can use it so big pots of soup/stew/broth too.
