Two-Face's lines would've worked much better from The Joker. "Let's start this party with a bang!" "Very punctual, even for his own funeral. BOYS! Kill the Bat!" Maniacal laughter. Even later in the film when he pretends to be a ringleader for a circus: That is TOTALLY something Joker would do!
@Heitor328
@Heitor328 5 жыл бұрын
Not true, Tommy Lee Jones was signed to replace Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, which was following the continuity from Tim Burton's movies. His Two-Face acts as The Joker because: 1. Jack Nicholson's Joker was very sucessful, so they tried to recreate it in a serious character 2. Joel Schumacher's approach was more kid friendly, a Split Personality Angry Murderer was too dark for WB, so they softed him a lot, plus deleted some scenes where he acts more 'psychotic'.

Curtis Husted these are actually sequels to the Burton films. It’s universally recognized as such. You’re the only person who hasn’t recognized this. Only reason Michael Keaton didn’t return was because he said the script sucked. If the script was better, we might have seen Keaton return. Plus, rebooting wasn’t actually a thing in the 90s. The Batman franchise got its first film reboot in 2005 with Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, which had Christian Bale playing Batman and also started a trilogy of its own. Before that, there were different interpretations, such as the Burton/Schumacher series, but those films aren’t really considered reboots by most. A reboot is starting from scratch. Telling an origin. And while we see the Wayne’s funeral, this is because Bruce is telling Chase about his parents death and all happened after that, which influenced his life thereafter. We even hear Bruce tell Dick his parents were killed by a madman, which is true from the Burton films since they were killed by the Joker. This film is another Chapter in the Burton saga. I mean, Burton even produced Batman Forever and this film still has some dark elements that sort of feel like the Burton films at times. Just accept that this is part of the Burton universe of Batman films, because it’s not up for debate.

For a lot of us millennials, this was our first true introduction to Batman. The first that we could remember at least. I was 8 when my dad took me and my brothers to see this in theaters. Funny enough, Carrey's performance is pretty much a successor of Frank Gorshin's portrayal of Riddler in the 60's show, which if I'm not mistaken Carrey is also a fan of besides the other media interpretations of Batman.

Even though I loved Batman ‘89, never liked Batman Returns, but Val’s Batman was literally the best Batman: the resourcefulness in the situation, the fight choreography, the control in his voice showing that this is not his first rodeo. The only problem was the performance by Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones, and the inconsistency of the script and direction, and especially the unnecessary love interest with Chase.

Apparently from what I researched, many people complained about the “Batman Returns” movie. Saying it was too dark for children. So that’s why for this movie, they made Tim Burton a producer and had Joel become director to bring some balance. I personally love Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Both movies have many mistakes, but the costumes were so on point. The Batmobile in Forever is my personal favorite and I loved Val Kilmer as Batman (not as Bruce Wayne though).

There’s something very charming and likeable about literally every aspect of this film being unbelievably more dated than the 1989 one despite it coming out a fair while after. Such as: The repetitive and jaunty Saturday morning cartoon music, the colours, the weird sci-fi fishy plastic design to the Batmobile and weapons, the ridiculously cheesy and campy dialogue, the fully-cgi environment shots, the costume designs, the “typically beautiful woman who gets caught in a love triangle with one bloke”, the self-referential joke line Robin says, the needless laughter from the villains for 98% it their screentime and the “NYAHH!”s of frustration when they fail, the forced “90s skateboarder Chad” lines Batman says (chicks dig the car), the forcibly edgy and rebellious Robin, Jim Carrey literally just being in his prime years, the villains having several scantily clad females around them that serve no purpose, the Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight scene choreography... I could go on. This film is THE 90s film. Everything about it is the 90s. I absolutely unashamedly adore it.
