Hi Ryan, Outstanding video ! especially like the slomo angles at the end. It's clear of your footwork, ball push away ( 3rd step ) , skip 4th step and slide. Now, I've got to practice ! I was pushing the ball out on the 2nd step and didn't feel comfortable.

great video sliding at your target is a big factor that determines if you miss in and you can tell by looking at your foot to see if it is pointing at the right direction I also like doing first 2 steps slower helps with the tempo of the push away to backswing creating that delay

I actually start with my same foot as ball hand but take a larger second step. I think the target and your line is the biggest thing to stay focused on once I had my form down. I found when I count steps or think of anything other than hitting my target at the angle I want, that I end up "blacking out" at that exact moment and realize I don't remember seeing my target when I threw the ball bc I was thinking about other things. It's crazy how much goes through your mind on the approach...when I only need to let my body do what I taught it and keep my mind on that one spot.

Hey Ryan! I'm sure you want to have your own identity in the bowling community, which I don't begrudge you and expect is no easy task given the success of both your parents in the sport, however, I really think you should incorporate your family more heavily, notably your parents. It's great watching you bowl against your dad, but it's even better watching you bowl as a team. You should also feature your mom more in videos, whether she's bowling, coaching, or supporting. She's a legend in her own right and I feel as though the fact that your dad is who he is has a tendency to distract from that fact. Behind the scenes would also be much appreciated, such as more vlog-like content away from the lanes. I was a serious bowler up until about a decade ago, when I decided to give it up. I was obsessed with the sport and looked up to people like your parents. Watching you bowl with your dad reminds me of the time I spent bowling with mine, which in many ways I miss. I wish you good luck and much continued success both on and off the lanes! Best, Aaron

I like how you have a lot of your dads fundamentals mixed into your 2 hand style. Same cupped ball and pointer finger straight ahead etc. Also the Simo off hand shift 🤣🤣. Picked up a couple small things in your vid that should help me out. Old guy that switched a year ago, it's been a grind but been slowly getting better and more consistent! I got to figure out how you get that speed thou 😲😲

I just went to the bowling alley to practice because of this video. I saw that you start the pushaway on the 3rd step and that couldn't have helped me more dude. It sped my ball up by over a mile an hour and I avg. 221 for 5. Fantastic video big dawg!

#RyanBarnes, hope that you make it to the PBA tour with your Dad, #ChrisBarnes! And hope I can go bowling again! About to have a TEE procedure done which I am not looking forward to and then will have surgery on my shoulder because I had 3 minor strokes and trying to recover! It’s been 3 months and can’t wait for all of this to finally be over but thanks again for the tips and hope that I can go bowling 🎳 again soon!

To play the inside of the ball do you just keep your elbow tucked into your side?
@keithm1961

im not sure what I'm doing wrong, I drift step and slide, left foot to the last board left, target is center arrow, IF I hit the center arrow ball makes its turn at the break markers and goes right into the 7 pin, more speed doesn't help as I lose control of the ball. I believe my elbow position is inconsistent. I try to concentrate on my wrist position after the release, I think im somehow going around the ball. as its top spins , which gives almost no pin action. main ball is a storm journey spare ball is a sidewinder, which follow my line better , but again no pin action. not sure what to work on first

I have a question Ryan. So idk if my home centers ball speed reader is correct but were just gonna go off that. It says I bowl only about 16.3 to maybe 17 sometimes. How do I increase ball speed? I see you and belmo dont have super fast footwork but great ball speed. I need your help. Thanks!🔥

One thing I noted you missed in discussion about the two-handed form is your third and fourth step. Your style seems somewhat similar there to the way Anthony Simonsen and Spencer Robarge do theirs, but seems a lot different than the way Chris Via and Jason Belmonte do theirs. Does that just speak to evolution of two handed form, or is that just individual again?

Hey Ryan so question. When you first started 2 handed bowling did you have a problem with your fingers being swollen. My ring finger has been swollen for literally a month and a half minimum nonstop. I don’t think it’s broken honestly because I wouldn’t be able to bowl haha. But do you have any solutions to finger pain and even wrist pain?

Do you ever have issues with knee pain on your plant knee? (inside of the left knee for me). If you have, is there anything you'd recommend? I have knee sleeves and a small patella knee strap that eases the pain but does not prevent it. Curious on your perspective if you have the time. Thanks in advance.

i am far from Barnes but i am a 2h that had a similar issue, occasional pain on the inside of my sliding knee. i found the source of it being my foot being pointed too far inwards while my knee/upper leg was driving straight on my slide. hopefully that makes sense - essentially a mismatch between where my knee was pointing vs where my toes were pointing. being more conscious of keeping them aligned through my slide has helped alot.
