It just amazes me....Meryl Streep singing with Carly Simon....I absolutely adore both these women.....I am literally sitting here bawling like a baby......I am just speechless...I didn't know until today that this even existed and I have seen Marvin's Room several times. My daughter's name is Carlie... wow ❤

Carly is so in touch with her emotions when she writes music. It just flows out of her.

One of the prettiest songs I've ever heard in my life is Meryl Streep singing the Gartan Mother's Lullaby. There are many others who've performed it, but the rendition she does is simply magical. My favorite of Carly Simon's is Time After Time ~ makes me cry ~ I used to sing her version of it to my children when they were small.

I remember hearing this for the first time in 1997 and I knew it was Meryl. SO happy this was posted. Even happier they didn't ask DeNiro to chime in:)

I gave this song to my little sister when I was a teen, I never thought in my late 30s this song would hold so much depth, I moved to Australia 🇦🇺 and I flew back after many years to be with her, I’ll always be there for her as she is for me. This song really hits home the bond between sisters ❤️

This is so true to life about sisters, but what's new, lot of pain in life and kindness helps us get through it better. Some don't learn that until it's almost too late. First time I heard this song and I love it.

I adore this song. It fits that movie perfectly. It is beautiful-so beautiful and plaintiff. It makes me think of my sister and myself! "Our" beach and beach cottage was directly behind a big dune at Crescent Beach, FL. It never blocked the view; it protected the house-and those inside. We went there since birth and BEFORE! So many, many beautiful memories at Onadune-what our Grandparent's named it. The dune in front changed from year to year but it always, always protected that superbly built , actual cottage, right on the beach. It is where my younger sister and a great family friend scattered our devoted Dad's ashes-the place he grew up coming to from in town during the summer months. If health had allowed I would have been there! My talented and in touch with her feelings sister wrote a wonderful short story title "Onadune"--A Love Story. She would like to rework it someday but I thought it was fabulous-so full and heartfelt and I could smell, taste, see, feel what she wrote of. This part is surely true: my little sister sure didn't pick me!! When all the brother's and sister's, the sons and daughter of our much loved and brilliant, loving, calm and much admired Grandmother, who could cook up a storm and my "character" of a Grandfather-a hard worker himself who was with Florida, Power & Light, gathered at my Grandparent's cottage and all the cousins were there to overlap, it was the best, safest and most loving place I ever felt. It stays with me today-and will always. I remember the year and exactly where my sister and I were sitting and how we felt because we had gotten Polio, right at the end of the epidemic. My Grandmother taught me to never sign anything without thoroughly reading it always! I witnessed her deep faith in action and learned much more about that and her years after she had died, with a beatific smile on her face as told by my Aunt who was in the living rom with her and turned around to see the exact moment of her departure. Aunt Bunny told me that and she was letting me know something so important-so Grandmother still gave then-and my very dear Aunt passed that along! My middle daughter, Jenna, went there, and I felt the first "quickening" of her inside of me- I remember exactly where I was laying down for the night when it happened. She died less than 4 years ago. I am so grateful she shared it all with us-from before birth until young adulthood. My oldest went there for more years-but everyone was always welcome to walk in the door, pull up a rocking chair and have lively conversations-and a LOT came. What a place. My youngest did not ever get to though because we had a heart-wrenching loss of our gathering place and our abiding time with family when it was torn out of our lives. But I am SO GRATEFUL we had it for as long as we did-and it withstood everything nature had to throw at it! Thank you for the wonderful and evocative sounding song, Carly Simon and Meryl Streep. And thank you, too, for the movie-which may have not been a GIANT movie however if was/is rife with the human condition-in many shapes, sizes, circumstances and the theme is love and family. And btw, what a magnificent cast! Sincerely, Terri Spencer (Williams) Granddaughter of James ("Jim") Grafton Spencer, III and Dorothy Bass(Boyd)Spencer, 1 of 2 daughters of Robert Earl Spencer and Frances Forrester Spencer. The gratitude I feel for this family and this place can be summed up in a word; love.

I love Meryl Streep. She is a great actress. But as a singer, good but no comparison to Carly who has such a beautiful, rich voice. There is no one like her.
@forevermonde4 жыл бұрын
Well there is no comparison. As in there's no need to compare. The only one doing any comparing is you. Why can't we just appreciate the song and both women independently for what they are, lovely.
