What a wonderful way to preserve and use lemons:) Thank you for sharing and Blessing to you and your family !

You have an epically adorable giggle, sister! You are also very knowledgeable and a great teacher. The Moroccan lemon is precisely how my friend's grand-mère made them. She was a very picky lady yet I know she'd approve of your lemon-preserving. Well done!

thank you for sharing. I will be giving this a try very soon as I now have a tree FULL of ripe lemons which I struggle with every year coming up with new uses for or simply juicing and freezing juice for later use. This would make wonderful gifts! God Bless You!

The whole lemons won't--that are preserved for savory dishes. I actually make a honey lemon and strawberry syrup so that I can have lemonade for years to come regardless of the weather. I also preserve Lemon Marmalade and Lemon Curd for the sweeter dishes. These preserved this way are more for savory dishes IMO, except of course the lemon zest.

The lemons in the big "cookie jar", do you leave this on your counter, or does it need to go into the refrigerator after a month? TIA

I leave it on my shelf in storage.

A little bit, but not much. Sour and salt are very similar. And you can rinse off the salt a bit and still have fabulous tasting lemony goods!

That recipe is in one of my hundreds of cookbooks. It's SO good...but that's kind of mean for me to tell you until I can at least find WHICH of my books it's in so that you can at least snag it that way. I'll put it on my list, ok?

Doesnt the lemons turn salty??
@socalprepper213211 жыл бұрын
I have a question that really has nothing to do with Lemons, I have many cans of evaporated milk, creama, and condensed milk. What can I do with this stuff when I do not do much in the way of baking? As for the lemons great ideals I love lemon on many things or drinks. Never seen it done like this and when using this much salt will the lemons be mushy, and very salty when you use them?
@PreparednessPro10 жыл бұрын
I just rinse the lemons before using them. They worked beautifully for me.

Why so much salt? I know salt is a preservative but is all that salt really needed?
@PreparednessPro10 жыл бұрын
Yup, it is. Too many people have an unhealthy aversion to salt. It's not salt that's bad for us, it's the dirt and stuff IN the salt and how salt behaves in our body when it's been manipulated outside of how God created it with all of the wonderful minerals stripped from it that's bad for us. That's why I only use the real stuff with all of the minerals and nutrients still in tact. ;-)

USE A VEGGY PEELER FOR THE ZEST AND YOU GET A LOT MORE
@PreparednessPro7 жыл бұрын
Not a good idea. The peeler goes too deep into the bitter pith. A zester is definitely the better tool.
@charleshunt37537 жыл бұрын
that is what i use all the time and i never get the pith if i knew how to make a video i would to show people how to

It is too much salt. I preserved lemons with lower amount of salt but in the jar of lemon juice (fresh) so even the skin go mushy after a week in the fridge.
@preparednesspro78259 жыл бұрын
lili M Until you've tried it the way I teach it, then you probably won't know how well it works. And using the right kind of salt is also very important! I just wash off the crystals if I'm using it for something sweet.
@sahar1usa9 жыл бұрын
I have made different type of lemon preserved/ Lemon pickle including Moroccan & middle east ( where it is originated from) . Over there we have teachers who have been doing it over generation !
