I deleted all social media accounts except KZbin cause we'll very informative videos like this one for example exist, not saying that's not on other social platforms but Instagram wasn't really doing much for me rather than having low self esteem, body comparison issues, being envious and most importantly it drew me further apart from God. I have decided to put God and myself first for the whole year and invest time in the betterment of self. Lay off social media for the year

Another great video, Nicholas! When we look at things in life and ask ourselves “Does this add value to me?” or “Does this increase the quality of my life?” many will say social media does not. And if anyone is only your friend because of Facebook, then they really aren’t your friend at all.

It's been 3 days since I deleted all my social media and I find myself more happy without it. Self comparison is just too much for me, I constantly compare myself towards other people while I'm still using social media and now it just feels so freeing and felt more content. Love your content as always Nicholas. 😊❤

You nailed the points Nicholas! As for me, I only had Tiktok for a day for a required activity. In an instant I know I need to delete it by the end of the day because of all the emotions popping out. I used to dance and these dance clips make me feel that I am missing out so much in the world of dancing. FOMO big time! But all of it ended after deleting the app. Whew!

I'm taking a break from social media, mostly Instagram. I wanted to declutter a bit mentally and I really love it so far. I actually really enjoy some of the content creators that I follow but like you mentioned, it was making completing tasks more difficult because I would get distracted so easily. I didn't full-on delete my accounts just the app off of my phone. I kind of feel like I need social media to promote my business as a videographer and photographer. Which is why i don't delete it completely. But I find this Middle ground to be really great. I post on the computer, and if I really need to check something, I'll do it. But it's definitely less tempting when it's not directly on my phone

This topic feels so relevant for me. I really only go on FB, but with the pandemic I would find myself on there for hours, feeling the benefits of connecting with other people. However, I quickly discovered how easily swayed I am to shop for things I see other people having, and I'm apparently THE perfect demographic for FB ads, because I've been drawn to purchase so many things because of them. It makes me feel gullible, and kind of disgusted with myself. Trying to figure out a way to maintain the wonderful connections I've made on there, but to not get sucked into the purchasing and comparisons. It's tough... love your videos - new subscriber here!

Thank you for this video! It resonated with me so much and I appreciate the straightforward way you address the ways letting go of social media has impacted your life. I was teetering between removing Instagram from my phone or not, but now I'm confident I should. I use it to compare my crafting, mothering, etc to what I'm seeing (not healthy). Thank you again for the little nudge I needed at this moment.

I just LOVE social media! Yes there’s many downsides to it but actually I have found that if I use it in positive ways it’s hard for me to go without it in all the good ways! I actually found spirituality on social media and as I became spiritual I found it hard to find people close nearby where I live that wanted that simple and spiritual way of living that I could connect to on a daily basis. I’ve found a whole entire community on Instagram that had led me to new friends all across the world. We do zoomcalls and lives on Instagram and I can honestly say that they were a HUGE part of me going through the pandemic with my mental health intact! I have friends and childhood friends in real life too of course but just that spiritual part of me needed more! I don’t believe we have to quit social media all together to be mentally stable but of course that is individual! I only follow accounts that makes me feel good or if it’s accounts of my good friends. You can choose what to consume just like on youtube. You just have to be smart about it and streamline it to your needs and wants 😍❤️

I loved this video. Your previous video on deleting Instagram gave me the idea to do the same. It's funny because the idea had never occurred to me. I have a wellness business (Ilumos Consultancy) that has an Instagram, and I thought, well Ilumos absolutely needs an Instagram. But even after realising Instagram doesn't drive revenue for the business, I still assumed the business needs an Instagram. Now I'm seriously considering deleting Ilumos's account because it's a MASSIVE time drain on me and doesn't deliver much value. The way you share about minimalism feels the same way I'm grappling with it. How can I radically be myself, even if that seems strange to other people. I want to own basically nothing. It feels so FREEING. Thanks for your content. I'm currently binging on your videos. Also don't worry about the fact that you're a small channel. I've seen you grow in just the past two days and, by the way, I like that you're a small organic channel. It lends you credibility and authenticity. Don't waver from that when you get bigger.

Hi Nick I really need to unplug, i keep teeling myself its easy, then i tell myself i cannot do it I remember years ago i decided i wouldn,t watch t,v for a week honestly the things i did in that week was amasing, felt so productive, i don,t have a t.v wow get me eh no instead i have a screen in my pocket or bag with me 24/7 i am putting the phone in a drawer and that is helping. I am begining to do things more slowly and just chilling and this i think is helping with my anxiety, alot of the problems i have are sadly self inflicted, but wrong advice and being brainwashed from the media etc doesn,t help. I am focusing on the saying "too much on my Plate" to reduce my food intake and what i decide to take on, when i refer back to that, it is a good analogy for me to hopefully make a wiser decision. Smaller steps in the right direction. thanks for sharing take care.x

I'm finally free of social media, I just keep KZbin (some people still consider KZbin a social media, but for me is very different because I can control what content appears to me) and I can say it was the best thing that ever made for myself improving and mental health, and Im finally realizing what is really important to think about and consequently turn into a better person with my own personality. To be honest it was not the first time that Im trying to do that, it's been years that a know about how social media is a dark place, but I was so addicted that I always keep getting back, it's not an easy thing to do but, but I promise it's worth it, I recommend everyone to try! 😉

I have been on the fence about deleting social media as well. It is a big time waster, and probably one of the main sources of my feelings of inadequacy about my life. My only reservation is music. I am a musician, so I also use my social media as a means to announce shows, network with venues and other artists, etc. Without social media, I feel like it will be harder for me to get my name as an artist out there.

I go back and forth with Facebook. I go to lengths to deactivating my account, for I don’t find it useful. If people want to know what I’m doing, they can call or text me. Be interested in what a person is doing rather than looking at their profile and not communicate at all.
