I think the Mahindra will feel better simply because it has a turbo charged engine which makes way more power and torque than the Hyundai. This is especially important in most of the provinces at higher altitude where the naturally aspirated cars feel unbelievably sluggish. Although, you can still get a Chery Tiggo 4 at these prices which is still better than both.

I recently bought a Suzuki Baleno 1.5 glx. It drives well and has a lot of extras that other cars don't have. Yet all is not a rainbow with Suzuki and this is just my opinion. Firstly the HUD option is a nice to have and all it offers is on the dash between the speedo and tach meter. The car does NOT come with auto locking doors a critical safety feature in South Africa The infotainment system is not bad but lacks RDS to keep you tuned to the radio station with AF, There is nothing more frustrating while driving and the station fades away because your frequency changes all the time, you have to keep resetting the station either stopping or while driving. Two main safety features I would add in all cars and keep out the nice to have options...

The Exter will sell initially because of Hyundai badging and curiosity but will ultimately fail for the same reason the Honda WRX did - that 1.2 engine. In South Africa, our runaround car is our only car - this needed a 1.6 or 1.0 Turbo engine. Watch how the Venue will eventually die because of pricing. Hyundai making some unwise marketing decisions. The new Mahindra is a win! Ticks all the boxes. It will be the one that builds the Brand in SA.

looking at the term of 5 years ahead, how are you going to sell this vehicle in 5 years? people should not buy new petrol/diesel cars now, it is a very bad investment, rather look at electric, get solar for your home to charge it up for free. the new vehicles hitting the market right now has 1000km range and even more with that type of range what else do you need..

@@beewest5704 you wont be needing a charging station at all, charge at home using solar... :) when the 1000km range EVs hit the market next year, the fossil fuel cars are history... for us here in SA the fast charging stuff will come, withing the next 5 years we will have to be there because of global pressure. but as i said you wont be needing those unless you are driving more than 1000km at a time.. and there are already fast chargers in most major cities. so for long georneys you are covered as well have you seen the drop in fuel price? wait till end next year, the oil companies are going to be begging countries to buy oil because of the surplus.. (this is from the EV market impacting the international market) also a huge note, China the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world selling like almost 40% of the global market in vehicles (only electric) they dont sell fossil fuel cars any more at all, Nissan closed 5 factories globally and others are in emense trouble because of their surplus in vehicles (they dont know what to do with them, nobody wants them any more), the international fossil fuel market is dying rapidly, in the next 2 years the market sales for fossil fuel cars will be down to something like 20-30%.. but there are guys doing much more research than i do on these things, take a look at The Electric Viking on youtube, he is totally on top of this with all the facts. regarding the teslas catching on fire, have a look on Elons responce to those videos and the claims, there is a lot of fake propaganda out there, btw, if you look at the amount of petrol/diesel vehicles catching on fire you will be totally blown away at the statistics of that and even the chance of those catching fire.. far by far higher than electric vehicles... tesla is one of the most safest vehicles to drive in every way.. but dont put down other eV makers, this is serious business the tech is amazing. No im holding out, finishing my last fossil fuel vehicle payment now, then planning to convert my current vehicles to electric, since i dont owe any money on them then..
