In that trio of compact G lenses: 40, 50 and a f/2.8 24 already exist. Although one could argue that 40 and 50 are as close as 24 and 28 are, so a 28 could be possible. There might be technical reasons that the wider compact lens has a lesser aperture, so maybe a 2.0 would be to big and a 2.8 covered by zooms?

A f1.0 series with AF would be interesting whether by Sony or Sigma. Otherwise a full f1.2 FF lens lineup that is also actually a MF image circle lens (makes for a f0.95 if the math’s not wrong) would be interesting. Not dissimilar to what Fuji did with releasing the same lens in GFX and X mount. Or better yet, innovate with a interchangeable lens mount (similar to declicking aperture); some way to still keep the one mount idea. The double duty idea would get Sony’s MF lens up to speed fast (no pun intended!) and also offer something the GFX just does have yet despite their early advantage. Releasing/announcing this with a revised and combined A7R+A7CR body would be interesting. Teaser tagline “Every new era begins with 1 (step ahead).” with the ‘R’ in the A7R red. (I’m charging full price if they do use this😂) The never before telephoto by Sigma’s probably the FF version of the 50-100 f1.8 to complete the pairing. If Sigma does a version of the 100-300mm f2.8 that’s more accessibly priced than the Canon variant, or Sony doing a smaller, lighter version, it would be killer. A 100-300 f2.8 not much bigger and heavier than a 70-200mm f2.8 would be amazing. Paired with the global shutter, sports journalism tech, it would be pretty interesting. Sigma 28-105 f2.8 + Sigma/Sony 100-300 f2.8. The barrier’s here to the 100-300mm f2.8 becoming a “mainstream standard” for a wide range of pros are price, weight, and size to really change the game.

Yeah, 50mm f0.95 with af would be insane! The only thing that I'm afraid that if Nikon Noct weights ~2k, than af version woudl probably be just unusable due to weight, and with that aperture no compromises can be made In therms of image quality, so it'll be a controversial product

Fuji saw their opportunity there and is doing very well and Canon is entering this market as well. I think users are increasingly valuing compact and lightweight equipment. I would buy a 20-120[150], in a heartbeat f/4 for landscape, if it were not too big. I have the 100-400, and would definitely upgrade if Sony made a constant f/4 version, or a 100-500. A very sharp, lightweight, small, fast focusing 100-400 f/4 with a built-in 1.5x teleconverter would replace my 100-400 and 200-600. I would also replace my Tamron 28-200 if Sony updated the 24-240, with a small, lightweight 24-200 matching or bearing Tamron’s sharpness while reducing its color fringing. Finally, I am also hoping Sony updates their not-so-great teleconverters this year.

We need new 50 and 85 f1.8 lenes maybe just improve the existing ones and rebadge them as G lenses. Or just expand the G series line of lenses to replace all the older Zeiss lenses and non-Zeisses. Not that they are bad quality just older tech inside.

There are crazy lenses some people maybe need, but there are also basic lenses who need a upgrade ... I'm talking about OSS lenses! 24-70 F2.8 OSS or 35-85 F2.8 OSS 🤯

Hmm Andrea, a 100-500/4 would be awesome .. but looking at Canon it may weigh close to 4kg and be more expensive than the rumored RF 200-500/4
