All your reviews are well done! Questions: (as a retired engineering interested in printing engineering type materials with enough precision for jigs/fixtures/molds/casting) 1. How close do you think this model comes to the Bamboo Labs Carbon X1? 2. At $500, one could buy 4 of these, instead of 1 BLCX1. Would that strategy work in your shop? 3. If not, what are the metrics that are important for engineering approaches to 3d printing? (from YOUR point of view)

The X1 looks similar but it's a different beast, well worth the money for the advanced features. See their specs. This is more akin to the P1P, roughly the same price. What's important when setting up your own shop is YOUR point of view. What are you using them for? Hobby? Profession? Prototyping and product design? What sort of production capacity do you need>? Etc. The answers will depend entirely on your goals. I use my shop for prototyping, so I don't necessarily need a full blown print farm. 2 or 3 decent sized printers suit my needs fine.
