Watching this is like fifty times better than any discovery program. No shaky camera, no fast editing, no stupid dumb cheesy comments. Just genuine working, coherent long-scene filming, with some insightful comments in between. That's what makes good tv. And you manage to hold the camera that still, better than 95% of all tv shows today.

I went to do a cutout last week and they were the meanest bees I have ever dealt with. My partner and I took many stings. We walked about 1/2 a mile and still had about 500 bees a piece and they were not nice or playing. We terminated the hive. Those bees I was not bringing home. Tell Pete he is in good company I wear my hat under my veil I do not like stings in the face. Oh by the way I had to edit to say it was good to see your Dad, glad he is up and around a looks like he is doing well. You need to get your brother back in the videos.

One of the many reasons I love your vids is you truly showcases how bees live in the wild. They seem to do better without us!! Thank you for doing the mite check. It reinforces my opinion that bees will learn to live with mites and the diseases they carry. I understand that honey producers need to treat to keep production up. But I'm so glad that nature takes care of it's own
@kimlorton30022 жыл бұрын
Nature is perfect, kind and cruel, warm and fuzzy, violently honest and above all, balanced when left alone. The animal kingdom, bugs and bees, all learn to adapt or die. Toxic or nature’s best, it can survive without us. But… can we survive without it? Likely not. We don’t all adapt, some force their way, and ruin nature’s perfection. Our motto as humans should be, like doctors , First, do no harm.” You treat the bees well. They are being killed, and they help and are the best of nature to pollinate our food sources. Those fools do not understand what they are doing. Thank you for loving the bees!
@jimklyman96023 жыл бұрын
Curious what you do with comb that has been exposed to a bug bomb. Bee wax holds on to hydrocarbons so well, that I tend to toss any comb that may have been exposed. Why have them raise brood or store honey in pesticide laced comb. This is how I tend to approach nests that have been sprayed (I usually decline the job, as I'm looking to promote healthy bee hives). I do explain my reason and what the client can do to (push repel the bees and then remove the comb) then clean the bee scents away so the area is not as attractive to another swarm. I figure they need to put some skin in the game too.

"Killz Primer" to seal the smell of the wax. Pink insulation to completely occupy the cavity which housed the colony. Its an extra charge, but well worth it to prevent another colony from moving in.

For what it's worth the chemical in that thermocell pad is toxic to honeybees. I contacted the company and they said that in the typical environment it is safe because of how it dissipates, however they should not be used in the immediate vicinity of any hive. Not sure if it would penetrate the honey and make it toxic to humans.

So many thoughts on this cutout! First: I have never heard you mention your mother. I was sure you didn't have one. But she is amazing - she would have to be or she'd be run over by the men in her life! We will refer to her as your Royal Mother from now as I have no doubt she is in fact the Queen Bee. Second: That picture of your father in the stills at the end is my very favorite of him. I would frame it! Second best picture was the pic of you with your parents, but it was missing Tommy. Third: That house! Thank you for a few shots to reveal it's character, you are right, that is a house inspired by FLW. My father would have loved it, it was his style of design too, though he didn't like FLW, just his designs. And you are right about how people live down there: very respectful of nature and her power. And lastly but not ever least, so glad to see Pete there keeping you honest and making us all smile. Hugs to you both!
