Alan was ridicilous in this episode. Charlie never made a move on Alan's girlfriends (except for when they were kids) and always helping Alan out with women. This is the point where he had become ungrateful and an intolerable cheapskate.

If anything, once Charlie departed the show and Kutcher proved to be a funny-disaster, they ramped up the annoying aspects of Allan to the Max. Kutcher normally gets all the blame for the show's precipitous decline at that point, but it was the changes to the other characters to compensate for Kutcher's lack of comedic talent that sank the show as much as Kutcher himself.

I 100% agree with that, Alan suddenly became a lot more annoying and desperate later down the line. The problem was how well Charlies Ying Matched with Alans Yang that really made the dynamic funny to watch. Without the Ying the Yangs bad qualities shine all too apparent
