"I actually quite like violinists, just not the ones with perfect pitch." --Producer Shawn, the representative of the entire human race

I have relative pitch and no longer conform to the rest of the classical community.
@megnemo6403
@megnemo6403 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's kinda hard conforming when you know how to sight read but you just cannot due to four learning disabilities. So I watch Katie Adelson and do whatever bowings I feel like and add a bunch of ornamentals wherever I like. But I'm not selfish I changed a bunch of the tempo and rhythms to some classical music to play with a box drummer in st Augustine once and people really liked it. The reason why two set fail at busking is that they are stiff and are oblivious to street performing culture and schedule. I routinely come out of an hour of busking with 70 to 75 dollars. It usually dosen't pay the bills ( especially when my crv Liberty needs brakes, a battery, an oil change and two back tires in a thirty day period) but it certainly dosen't hurt either. And I'm teaching my handicapped Americana bird and my sultan pullet to play xylophone and then I will teach them keyboard as well
@megnemo6403
@megnemo6403 3 жыл бұрын
And it really is a shame that two set don't understand busking culture or scheduling because they are much better technically at violin then me. If they learned busking culture and scheduling and watched Katie Adelson, rob Landres, and Scottish fiddle music they could probably make ten times as much money as I do.

Not painful to me personally. It is just a statement of fact. I was forced to play cello a month before being forced to play violin and a bit of piano for years. When I was an adult I quit for 20 years after years of abuse by my legal guardians. I now after playing again for the Last 5 years am a musician so what you have stated just now is so much more important then playing violin. If you play violin it's in your fingers and hands. how is the lead guitarist or even any guitarist of rock or any genre even similar to violinists. im sorry but its true, people dont care about violins outside of a tiny specific niche,almost 95% of music genres out there doesnt involve violins.u can have a guitar,piano,keyboard or trumpet or saxophone or even a trombone or flute or clarinet backing u up or drums even accompanying u during a song or a jam session or doing like a jazzy solo in a funky song.....but u will almost never find violins in these incidents. if there were no such things as parents,90% of violinists and other typical elitist assholery instrumentalists wouldnt exist. i guarantee u 90 percent of kids out there wouldnt think of picking up the violin or violin related musical genres. its like the number one syndrome of over demanding perfectionists asian parents whom have zero musical literacy or even music taste themselves in the first place.....who thinks learning a classical instrument is one of those things u do as a

I heard an interview with Hilary Hahn on UK radio many years ago when she was just starting out. One of the things which the interviewer identified as marking her out from other soloists was that she enjoyed socialising in the pub with the other orchestral players after rehearsals. I mean, they weren’t wrong. Violinists do have a certain “shut up and get out of my way, you filthy peasant” energy to them, especially the first violins. I play the trumpet in a concert band, and we can be a little bit the same way sometimes, but not anywhere near as bad as the violins. As Garrison Keillor once put it, the violins believe that if the conductor died, the rest of the band would just follow them and nobody in the audience would notice any difference, except that they would now have an unobstructed view of the violins.

Also, these dont refer to all violinists, there are plenty good violinists, but you guys dont have to be in the spotlight the whole time. Jason speaks truth. So did the bassoonist! Viola Gang FTW! (I play violin as well, and Jason really does have a point, it is physically easier to play violin when you are a violist, much less muscle work with the left hand in terms of finger extension and finger pressure on the strings). So, yeah, switch the string education paradigm so everyone starts on viola. By the time the students develop some skill, THEN switch them over to the instrument that packs the potentially lethal to parental sanity E string, ‘cause that sucker is as shrill AF in inexperienced hands.
