My second favourite manson album after antichrist superstar! One of my favourite albums of all time

I think this album is two things: A portrait of himself growing up,how his view was,his thoughts of what maybe he thought how society sees the Portrait of an American family. And the kids i think also was when he was bullied himself in school,so I always thought Lunchbox was what he experienced in school. Marilyn has always been good at being cryptic abd letting the audience draw their own picture of what he is saying. The cover of the album itself is kinda creepy and dark,but cool. Classic album for me. I give it a 9.5 , and is always a great listen. I loved it. Definitely a Toe Tag worthy album.💯💖

Antichrist, Mechanical and Holy Wood are all 10/10 for me, this is def a 9 or 9.5/10- still an S tier album. It's sorta the soul of the band, considering the original Spooky Kids wrote it (Daisy, MM, Pogo, Sara Lee Lucas and Gidget Gein) and created the spooky industrial/punk/psychedelic metal vibe which evolved into the many styles of music we see throughout his albums.

Funny you guys reviewed this album , cause I recently started listening to it for the first time as well.. anyway, great review! To me, while listening to it, I couldn’t stop thinking that this record sounds so 90’s with the kinda grungy vibe and all the weird effects and whatnot.. solid album for sure 🤘🔥

Great review guys! This one was always my favorite. It has a good mix of camp and heaviness, and I always loved the Trent Reznor production that gives it an industrial edge. Although it's not their best song, I do like My Monkey, just because it seems to be giving the listener a wink and a nudge, as if to say "hey, maybe don't take everything you hear on this album too seriously." Sadly (and predictably), conservative voices made this band a scapegoat anyhow. Regardless, fun record that wears its 90's stripes proudly!

This album has grown on me so much. It was my 3rd manson album. If you listen Wormboy on Antichrist you can still hear some of this album sound. There is alot of Sarah Lee Lucas and Gidget Gein in this album. Cake and sodomy and yes Misery Machine are my fav along with Snake eyes for sissies. No other Manson guitarist has really played Cake and sodomy just right live IMO

RIP Daisy Berkowitz, a dear friend in my scene. God Bombs singer debuted on Revolver with Voidhead and Daisy brought in his licks to Justin's Album alike Portrait, on songs COntrol Purgatory and Golden Shower. I am a huge fan of Daisy songs in MM from Spooky Kids era and into this album and the prdecessor to Antichrist on Smells like... (Which I joke about Smells like Chickens) a safer title because it's dangerous to today's sensibilities. the likening of Cartoons and Kids tv shows was a call back to his own childhood, a little bit like Dr Seuss meets Dr Satan. He as a child was abused by both neighbors and Christian idols. It's a litle messed up, but in a way to make us uncomfortable imagery. Wicked Witch the Snatcher in Chitty Bang Bang and even Satanic Magic stuff on Willy Wonka. He is playing a Magician Trickster who you can't trust with your spirit. your inner child is unsafe. Alike how Antichrist felt dark. Daisy's menacing riffs and Brian (MM) vocals is intentionally creepy. It's gonna make you uncomfortable but entertained, alike the Shoots and Ladders Korn album. a little evil and a little innocent.

Every Era up untl of 2003-05 The band was pretty consistant of Twiggy and a Guitar player, MM and their two drummers which changed in 95 with Sweet Dreams "GInger Fish" in 2003- Skolds production and Bass on the album was way diff. Daisy is MM's best most unique player, and I appreciate his Early demos for Anti. Those are amazing. Skold is so clean on the end product. It's weird to hear the demos and then Twiggy steal their riffs from Brad "GIdget Gein" and Scott "Daisy' and even tho he is talented, id' accuse Twiggy and Trent for steailng the major riffs Daisy had on 90's era tape.

My Fave is Lunchbox and Dope hat and Get is good too. Missing is FILTH. A rare demos and Suicide Snowman. I woudld've killed if they had recored Thrift. I am a BIG BIG FAN. Thanks for the review guys.

My monkey was pogo on the synth, listen to the older versions. Maybe 4-5 different iterations exist.
