I don't really mind the regular pathway videos. I've been thinking lately that given the impending issues of climate change and need to move to less destructive options for transport, the need for more walkable cities in North America (and everywhere really), the shift in our generation over these last 2 years to more sustainable travel but new questions on how to make it fit in one's life; these slice of life videos are really good. Showing people what the day-to-day will be is comforting in a way. We get stressed about new changes but if videos like this help build a familiarity, that change is maybe less scary for people. Or maybe I'm full of nonsense 🤷♂️😅 Either way, glad your move is going well and you're now enjoying Thailand. The end of one era is the beginning of another. Let's Goooo!

@2:57 = I can see where both sides are coming from. I can see their point actually if you move to the very left with your car you are trying to discourage "under taking" on a road that has no dedicated cycle path. to that statement, I can agree 100% with the logic and why they teach it. However, I also agree with you about driving in the middle of the lane it is safer for you as the driver. I believe as cyclists we have similar egregious behaviour, but for good reason. When cycling on a single lane road it is safer for the cyclist to cycle in the middle of the road to discourage dangerous overtaking from car drivers. Again car drivers will feel the anger :) but technically they cannot safely overtake on those roads so shouldn't until it is safe to do so. Obviously, the cyclist should pull aside and allow the cars to pass if they were really that slow and have a massive line. i.e. very similar to how tractors do in the countryside when a big line builds upon narrow country roads.
@TwoWheelCruise3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really comes down the the road design. Better design can lead to more enjoyable and safer trips for both drivers and bikes.

As a trucker in the US, they actually want us to stay in the lane as long as possible before we swing a wide turn, to prevent vehicles from passing us. It's also important that we don't hug the curb either, because if our rear axles are positioned too far forward our rear over hang will swing out possibly into part of the lane you're passing us in, as we turn.. It's a catch 22.... Good luck to you in your new home and area, I look forward to seeing your next trek....At least you'll be going to a warmer area at this time of the year.

your logic about cars pulling to the left is flawed. moving right over allows others to pass by and stop the area becoming congested because one car decided to stay put and keeps traffic flowing in a built up area. You could also still pass by most cars who are pulling over, that beige car looked like it was parking.
