It looks like a good factory bike with a unique design. But it's hard to say it's a handmade bike. Handmade bikes mean that they have custom-made (bespoke) frames, usually welded by hand.

Needs alot of help.. 1.) Greese ,all threads and mating surfaces. 2.)multi butted tubes , for more strength and lighter weight. 3.) Built in chain tensioners on the drop outs, can get after market bolt on . But this is custom hand made.. That's a few disappointments I noticed immediately. And this thing probably weights 30lbs. Even with lil 20 " wheels and single speed gear ,maybe it's a multi speed hub. Would like to see it set at a highet standard than bigbox bikes... but think these day everything is in a junk mindset..

@Trek_Rail. Beauties? Did you see all that old technology on such an expensive bike. They charge $3000 aud for them but do agree, it should outlast a carbon bike. Carbon seems to crack a lot. I'm pretty sure that carbon bikes crack because the epoxy degrades over time and can't hold the carbon fibers together forever.

I regret that many of the comments about this bike are sarcastic because of the false title, "handmade bike". In fact, it is mostly made in Japan except for the saddle and shifter. mikashima, sugino, diacompe...... precision and beautiful parts. By the way, it weighs 13 kg. It is expensive, but I think it could be a template for a product that prioritizes design above all else.

Sometimes I think it’s a culture thing. It feels like they are taking pride in their work but missing details you expect in precise assembly

I was into BMX Bikes when I was a Kid, and knew all or most of the top end race Bikes. Kuwahara being one of them. They weren't as popular as Redline, Diamond Back, Mongoose, and GT. If Kuwahara made regular road/recreational bikes, they didn't import them to the US. The BMX was relatively rare compared to others, I only seen factory teams ride them. That was in the 80's.

To fix the handles on the handlebars I do not use lubricant which will never ensure that it holds correctly with the risk of rotation, however I recommend that you spray hairspray in the handle before sliding it on the hanger, once dried it will stick the handle perfectly to the tube, however for disassembly you just need to insert the blade of a screwdriver to remove the handle and spray a lubricant in the space thus created, rotate and pull the handle which will slide easily....

What a funny old country Japan is. Considered to be a highly advanced country that makes lot of electronic devices. Look at their bullet trains, amazing. Then we see in this video robots welding bike frames but then they use a lot of old technology on the bike and the assembler doesn't even have an air compressor to pump up the dozens of wheels he'd have to inflate on a daily basis. What is going on? Sure, there's a lot of charm in the old ways, like rickshaw rides for the tourists and tea ceremonies but let's be real, the good old days were never as good as they are now. We are ever evolving with our technology, which makes things constantly better, we should embrace that. So to that end, since they use a lot of old tech on their bikes, I wouldn't call them high end. Charging $3,000 aud for a bike doesn't make it high end. It's a rip off, unless they justify the price by paying their staff extra well. Otherwise, I think it's real value is at most $200 aud.
