I've been playing mostly melee for the majority of my time in wow. When I do play ranged it's always ele sham or frost mage. I've decided to play shadow priest after getting over how difficult I thought it was. I'm still learning but I'm having a blast! And I'm glad I've given it a try. Thanks for all of the information. I have been playing both Voidweaver and Archon to try both out. I definitely agree that VW is so much cooler and fun to play, I enjoy everything about it, plus IMO the flow is better. However, I can't ignore the power behind Archon, but it's not terrible to play either. I recently started following you and plan to stick around. You got some juicy info which helps open my mind to more scenarios. Edit: Remove some words and fix errors.

Glad you're enjoying both specs! I think right now with heroic dungeons being the hardest content voidweaver is better. Fingers crossed it might get a buff before the season starts and it'll be down to picking which spec you prefer to play without any pressure 🤞

@@BiteSizeWoW I main mage, as i have for the last 15 years so im spoiled with always being good dps + good mobilty/defensives haha but ive always alted hunter or shadow, but ya looking at current shadow they seem to be too much of a standing turret and seems like gonna have to wait for another balance update hopefully before raid release for them to get that extra dps push - but ya in general ive always loved the theme of shadow and multidotting, just sad they dont have any fast mobility button etc

Both solid picks, comes down to if you prefer melee or range for that choice I would say. Remember we have nearly 3 weeks before season 1 with virtually no content with time limits or pressure.. so take the time to level both, chill and enjoy them and make the choice for season 1 start, that'd be my advice ^^

Currently DA is the best choice for voidweaver :(, but unless you're doing top end content, of course you can. It's certainly not unplayable, just sub optimal

why is it said everywhere to Halo into Void Eruption when the hero talent says that after entering Void form we get 20% bonus dmg

I believe it's because halo has a cast time so using it after a full opener and void eruption would desync our cooldowns quite heavily. By using the first one out of void eruption and the rest inside void eruption it minimises desync

As a general rule no, but with voidweavers end talent making every devouring plague cast (when entropic rifts active) increase the damage and size of entropic rift, I've been trying it out and it seems like it gets good results in aoe!

Do i use the empowered mind flay at the end of this rotation for archon?

Yeah, so essentially, just before TWW released Blizz changed it so that we can hold up to 4 mind flay insanity procs, it was previously just 2. So we can fit in the full opener making use of our mind blasts/void torrent/devouring plagues/void bolts etc, and not overcap on mind flay insanity procs. If it was still the case that we could only hold 2, we would use them sooner in the rotation. As long as you arent sat on 4 stacks of mind flay insanity, you're ok to wait on it and make sure other abilities get used first. Publiks shadow Weakaura has been updated recently to show all 4 charges of mind flay insanity which is extremely helpful for this

Sure! So I don't use too many macros, important ones I'd suggest though I will link in this pastebin - pastebin.com/ijmUPF1d So Power infusion - I just macro it with other things like a dps potion, on use trinket, and this also enables you to simply right click someone, press focus on them, and then when you power infusion yourself it also does it to them automatically (with the priest talent twins of the sun priestess) Angelic feather - essentially it just places the feather at your mouse cursor so you dont need to fiddle about placing it on the floor Dispersion - allows you to cancel your dispersion pressing the same key you use to go into dispersion Shadow Crash - similar to feather, uses shadow crash where your cursor is so you dont need to mess around placing the reticle Also in general, if you're just coming back.. just be patient and stick with it, as with all things practice makes perfect! Make use of training dummies and just keep going with it and you develop a flow : ) ofcourse, if it turns out you simply don't enjoy shadow (the busy, multidot playstyle isn't for everyone) try out some other classes and see what works for you, I really enjoy Mage and Priest but used to main a death knight many moons ago!

Out of the shadow hero trees? They're both similar difficulty, I'd try both and see what takes your attention, voidweaver is likely better suited for most for levelling to the new max level. Although, shadow isn't the easiest spec if you are coming brand new from classic? If it was out of any spec in the game for someone coming from classic I would recommend BM hunter

Shadow Priest doesn’t see full potential until like M+ 6-8 (even that’s still a little low) or better. Nothing stays alive long enough to do any damage in lower dungeons. You just do what you can.

Hey. So, if you have minds eye talented (dev plague costs 5 less insanity), no we don't spread our DP. Just pick a priority/long lived target and focus them. However if you take the other option with that talent node, distorted reality (Increases the damage of Devouring Plague by 20% and increases its duration to 12 seconds) then you would spread the devouring plagues around for maximum DPS. The majority of the time you will likely just take minds eye and not need to spread DP. Hope this helped

Didn't want to talk too much about base kit type of stuff and draw the video out detailing every ability, just wanted to get the core rotation in with a dummy demonstration. I also in "normal scenarios" quite often like to save sw:D if I know upcoming movement is required so that I have more instant casts to keep dpsing on the move. Ofc procs / rng / execute range mobs / movement etc can all change things and require on the fly adaptation

Hmm.. subjective. Id say it's somewhere in the middle. It's pretty easy to pick up but mastering it can be quite tough and a lot of people are put off by the lack of mobility
