Unlike the general narrative, Guan Yu wasnt a flawless god of war, he actually had a lot of flaws which Wu used for their own advantages.

Whats ironic about this....Lu Meng did kill Guan Yu but it was said that Lu Meng also died by being severely haunted by Guan Yu's ghost, not long after this, to the point of insanity or commited suicide to escape it. This is the historical account of this event that Dynasty Warriors wont show.

@@Cattail4546 The novel was a historical account. Its not like RotK was written in modern times. RotK was written years after the 3 Kingdoms Era but still considered a historical account with a few fictions in it. Koei uses the novel to tell the story in their games.

@@LagunaShirogane No. The novel was a made up crap, written by Luo Guan Zhong. Luo Guan Zhong wrote the novel to kiss the a***** of the Shu Han. Whereas in the real records of Chen Shou, a.k.a Sam Guo Zhi, it was not like in the game at all. Guan Yu got defeated because he was arrogant. Lu Meng was dead because of his illness. The place where Lu Meng died of illness back then is in Wuhan of today China. I recommend that you should read San Guo Zhi instead of the novel. The novel is nothing more than trash. That novel made people think they know chinese history, but actually, they don't

​@@LagunaShiroganeROTK was written over 1000 years after the Three Kingdoms period, and many of the events and characters in the novel are either heavily altered compared to their historical counterparts, or downright fictional (Diaochan and Zhou Cang, for example). According to some historians, Guan Yu was actually captured by subordinates of Pan Zhang.
