I bought the 87-01-150's 4 years ago, 1 month into my HVAC career....I've carried them in my front pocket every day ever since...used the heck out of them today, and most days - recommend them to everyone. Have the larger sizes as well, best 'channelock'-style pliers made, bar none.

mike_HVAC I absolutely agree.

I got the 150's instead of the 125's because it fit my hand better. The 150 is also a longer lever to pinch when you got them stuck all up in a motorcycle. No matter, I love these pliers

Cobra pliers are good for working on materials you don’t mind marring. The teeth chew up bolt heads and nuts. However, if you work with the same bolts often, like stage hands, and you thread bolts with ungloved hands, then you want the plier wrench. People that build convention booths, trade show displays, and anything else that has to be set up and taken down repeatedly hate the cobras.

I got both of these in 180 and also the wrench in 150. I think I'm going to get the Cobra in 150 because that size is small enough to fit anywhere and big enough to actually be used properly.
@adamlee5814 жыл бұрын
Man both the cobra and pliers wrench are a hell of a range of wrenches. I have the 125 cobras in a off road motorbike tool kit. The 150's are very often in my pocket at work or the 150 pliers wrench
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
I feel like the 150's on both models are more useful, though not quite as easy to carry as the 125's.
@adamlee5814 жыл бұрын
@@txtoolcrib I find the opposite. The 125 cobras have to be fished out of work trouser pockets while the 150's of either style fit real nice in the little built in tool pockets and I can whip em out as handy as a pencil in a tool belt. I haven't got the 125 pliers wrench but the little cobras don't half pack a punch in a compact tool kit

Friend of my wife’s contracted it. She is in like day 5 and said her symptoms are getting worse everyday. She is relatively young though, hopefully she starts seeing improvement soon. I’m kind of holed up at home for the foreseeable future. Hopefully the doctors can get a hold on this thing soon.

TX Tool Crib my cousin, in AZ, has also. It kicked her butt but she’s on the upswing and didn’t have to go to the hospital. Her two young teenagers got it as well but their symptoms were less severe than her’s. Pretty soon we should all know someone with it 😔 Stay safe Ben. I wish y’all the best during all of this.

TX Tool Crib I’m happy to hear about your wife’s friend. My cousin in AZ and her kids are starting to improve. It’s just really kicked her butt. Her kids have faired better. I’m south of you in Houston and expect to start knowing more people who have it. I’m a 100% single full time dad. My two teens and I are just following all the recommendations and using common sense. I’m waiting to form a more complete opinion on all this once it’s over and I have more data. Having said that, I’m still taking this seriously. Please stay safe my friend. Your video help people more than you may realize. Reach out anytime too.

Love my Knipex Cobras and Pliers wrench . Have the 180 and 250 for both. Going to get smaller one. Torn between the 125s you have here and the 150s. But you can't go wrong with Knipex.

I use the 250mm cobras and the 180mm pliers wrench daily at work, still I always have a set of the 125mm cobra and pliers wrench in my belt pouch. They're perfect for tight spaces, working on water hoses under the sink for example
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
I can see that. All of them are great tools, just depends what you are working on.

RECA sells a 125 Cobra with the smooth wrench style handles. I much prefer it. On a side note and regardless of grip texturing/wrap/dips. I've come to find I gravitate very much so towards the 125's to the XS's. From the push button, full feel in hand, and especially jaw width. The 125 for the minimal difference in size to the XS just feels far more capable imho.

I much as I love the idea of purchasing these, I just can’t justify the cost. I mean I just scored various pliers for $1 each at an estate sale that were all made in America with quality steel. I have a small plier I bought at harbor freight for $5 😂.

These are all around great. I have the 125 Cobra. Ironically, my 125 pliers wrench is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I have the 150 pliers wrench ( I got the set) and it is great but it seems a bit too big for pocket carry where the 125 size is perfect. The wrench makes more sense for what I do. Ultimately, I am going to get a set of both but I will carry the 125 wrench in my pocket. The 125 just disappears in your pocket and you don't even know you are carrying it. The 150 is just a tad too big for that. Nice review.
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
Kelly Painter well did you get them in? How do you like the smaller size of the 125’s?
@inferno71274 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a maximum bit and don't care about marring up the hardware and just want to get that fastener off then use the COBRA. If you need to be more delicate and need to re-use the hardware then use the Pliers/Wrench.
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
It depends I think. The pliers wrench gives more a better surface contact on hex and square fasteners that are not rounded off. So, for those types of fasteners, I think you get better results with the pliers wrenches in my opinion.

Ben, I am a bushcraft hobbyist, and I also like fixing things around the house. Basic stuff-a little drilling and tightening here, a little lubricating there, etc. I want to buy one of these for my EDC pack as my first water pump pliers. But, I am unable to decide between the new 4-inch one, and the 5-inch one you showed here. Should I go with the 4-inch one and then buy perhaps a 6 or 7 inch one later for the tool box? Or do I go for a 5-inch one only since I probably should call in plumbers for anything serious since I have no formal training? After watching your video, I am tempted to go with the former idea-a set of 4-inch + 6/7-inch water-pump pliers, I guess it won't hurt to have both, over time. But, is the 4-inch one good for EDC at all? What do you think?

The real question is: Comfort Grip or regular? And Why? It's the only thing I have trouble deciding, and maybe what sizes you'll get the most use out of. Definitely getting both of the 5" (150s) though, I'm talking the more standard bigger ones are most useful? Or, just get the 3-pack, 7", 10", and 12" to save some money and call it a day?

Well for a non German speaker his pronounciation is pretty accurate. In company ads they pronounce it like that just with a bit more emphasis on the "i". It's like the american "knee" with the K pronounced like the C in "Coca Cola". C-nee-pex.
