I found Tycho right before moving to the Pacific Northwest. I loved there for 8 years. It was my driving, coding, everything soundtrack. I'm still a huge fan but nothing epitomizes the best way of listening than to be sitting on it driving down the PCH near the ocean and trees. Special.

I have a bunch of songs that are sitting around that I want to release, but they need some finishing touches. What is your mastering chain and what do you look for when mastering/equalizing the whole track?
@Tychomusic5 жыл бұрын
I typically use UA Shadow Hills comp, Acustica emerald EQ and UA ATR-102 Tape as my basic "vibe" mastering chain. Then when I get that where I want it the mix engineer I work with Count will add Ozone and Elevate to finalize things

Can you share a high-level breakdown of what your typical workflow looks like for music, either with or without vocals?
@Tychomusic5 жыл бұрын
I usually start by finding a melody on the keyboard or guitar then I play a part on the bass guitar usually, sometimes synth bass. after I get a nice progression going I'll make like a 16 bar loop and just start adding drums and layers. Once I feel like there's enough to work with I start moving things around and creating a rough arrangement. once I have a rough framework I'll start working out variations and alternate parts to create building blocks for the sections / movements of the song. The finalizing phases are mostly arrangement, then mixing / mastering but during that time I'm always tweaking and adding stuff
@dave234565 жыл бұрын
@@Tychomusic Thanks for taking the time to answer. I'm a huge fan of all the instrumentals of the new album especially Japan. Which I feel is a masterpiece. I feel having a full-on vocalist now takes away from the focus on complex harmonies in the songs. Respectfully, I have to say that the vocal "front and center" approach takes away front the magical journeys of pure instrumentals. Just my opinion. Love you guys!
