Tyler Hubbard On Why Florida Georgia Line Broke Up + The Roast Of Tom Brady And Drake vs. Kendrick

Recorded: March 4th 2024 | In this weeks episode the boys are here to talk about everything that happened over the weekend. The guys get into the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar rap beef and talk about who’s side they are on, the meaning behind some of the lyrics and who is winning. The guys also talk about the roast of Tom Brady that was on Netflix from Sunday. They recap some of the funnier jokes, who crushed it and the random people that were there enjoying it all.
Following the intro the guys were joined by long time friend but first time guest and one of the main members of Florida Georgia Line, Tyler Hubbard. The boys and Tyler get into what it was like blowing up so quickly with FGL along with the ins and outs of the music business. As we all know, FGL is no longer so the majority of the time the guys are talking about what happened between him and Brian Kelly. Tyler talks about how he didn’t want them to break up and how it legitimately felt like a marriage. The boys end the pod talking about Tyler’s solo career and the challenges that not being a part of a group has brought. Tyler has been on an absolute roller coaster ride throughout his a career and he takes us through every twist and turn. Big hugs, tiny kisses.

Drake and Kendrick have had “beef” for a while like since 2013 but nothing crazy. It re-ignited cause drake asked Kendrick and cole to be on first person shooter on. Kendrick declined but cole accepted so on FPS, drake threw a subliminal at Kendrick. Drake and Metro Boomin have beef so on Metros album, metro recruited Kendrick, future and a couple other mfs that have beef with drake to essentially drop a diss album. That’s where the “20v1” comes from. Since that “diss album” got released, they been going at each other’s throats.

For a synapses (there’s a word for you Taylor) of the rap battle: Drake and J.Cole came out with a song called “First Person Shooter” in the song they alluded to being the GOATS of rap blah blah and kung foo Kenny (Kendrick Lamar) wasn’t digging that too much. So he hopped on a metro boomin beat with future called “Like that”. In the song, Kendrick says fuck the big 3 of rap, and it’s just him at the top and no one can touch him. J.Cole, God bless his heart, came out with a song called 7 minute drill and trashed Kendrick’s discography. The world erupted….until j.cole apologized. Big no no. Time goes on and a few minions chime in on the beef (not too important but that’s why it was 20v1) then Drake drops push ups (diss to Kendrick) and subsequently drops TMF. The world cries for Kendrick to respond and then it happens…Kendrick drops back to back with Euphoria and 6:16 in LA. On the same day, the lightskinned rapper drops Family Matters and a parody of a song that he and Kendrick were on called Buried alive. Kendrick then fires back WITHIN 30 MINUTES with another diss track that’s an absolute banger (Not like us) and that takes the air out of drakes release. Finally, Drake drops a not so well received diss mocking Kendrick’s heart series (The Heart part 6). I’m here every Tuesday boys. Hope you read it because this shit took time damn it. Sidenote: the beef has plenty of subliminals that allegedly go back years.
