I've known about Tyler Perry for a long time and watched some of his comedy through the years but as a white man, never really listened to him. His Emory commencement speech just came up on my youtube and I was blown away by it and now searching for his other speeches I found this. I'm blown away by him, he is a national treasure, an amazing man, and a wonderful human being. We are truly blessed, as he is one of the greatest speakers and humans to have ever lived and he is alive and well in our world today.

But isn’t it what your average joe/Julie does. The media are framing most of us as the problem when it’s the few who are creating it. And you notice they keep pointing out new non problems as problems with out any solution just you’re wrong because you’re a man, you you’re white, you your talking, you shut up. It’s just today’s money maker we’re all talking about it, and others get paid big bucks they move on move house we’re left with the crap

Surely no Oscar acceptance speech tonight will be more meaningful or needed in the U.S. than Tyler Perry's. Who can pledge to heal America, beginning by eliminating the word "hate" in our vocabularies, then meeting for dialogue, and thus accept Perry's Humanitarian Award with him, as he invited us?

A speech so needed in this country. It is such a shame that this speech is not coming from our leaders. But rather an actor. An actor who is not responsible for bringing us together. But yet these words could do just that. Huge message of appreciation to Mr. Perry. I hope we see more of you soon. To others out there including myself.... we could all learn from this speech. And the media? And politicians..? just listen to this. Act on it.

I’ll never forget my friend, Leonard he was of color, I never saw that, but others notice our friendship and treated me very poorly. That was in the 70s, I never forgot my friend, he was the best artist, he drew pictures for me.
