Ah, I remember these days, where it was a literal conversation--looks like it was filmed like on Kinge's lunch break outside his office lmao--that usually devolved into yelling. I also remember when they decided on the current format of giving everyone their turn to talk, that avoided some of the yelling. Good times.

Given how much time has passed, it's safe to say I agree most with Ken and Myke on this. Tyler, at this point, was still trying to find out what would work to make a fantastic album front to back and he had a lot of missteps on this album. However, Flower Boy gives complete confirmation on to Feefo's musical genius point. Love to check back on the old reviews sometimes to see how well each of their arguments have aged.

@dilthomas80358 жыл бұрын
MongolHorde69 I just checked and I didn't like my own comment why are you making shit up. Goblin had great hits maybe it wasn't consistent, but when it really was time to have a banger he was there. Cherry Bomb was just amazing I have to say at least a 8/10. How can you say it wasn't that good when it had these songs. DEATHCAMP The Brown Stains of Darkeese Latifah BUFFALO SMUCKERS These songs could carry the album just on their own. The beats, lyrics, and flow are near perfect on these songs. The rest of the album while as great still is pretty good. He still stays pretty true to tyler, but gives a lot of variety and grows quite a bit from his previous work.

I hate to side with artist, but honestly all of the negative reviews I've seen of GOBLIN on KZbin are typically from ''jaded'' older ''golden era'' nerds like dude in the SUIT. Me being one of them. But I take TYLER and OFWGKTA for what it is. A group of young, rebellious erratic kids who are expressing themselves. I think people set their expectation way too high for this man. He's a kid with no major backing him having fun. This music reflects it. plain and simple. I think it's good

Thank you guys so much.

Some songs are horror-core, others like Inglorious, Parade and Analog are not. People usually remember the horror-core songs because they get their attention and so they label Tyler as horror-core. I personally do not think he is a horror-core artist.

Oh and thanks for watching the show! Nice to get comments from real hip hop heads.

@bigcharleslee54 The point that you obviously missed is that for anyone to say an album is good they have to have a frame of reference. If someone grows up in Alabama where all they hear is Paul Wall & Bubba Sparks, they're gonna think that's the pinnacle of hip hop. So if they hear something else, they're gonna compare it to those artists.

i respect everyones opinion but me personally i think that goblin was a phenomonal album i never get tired of listening to it tylers lyrical ability is so good that you have to sit down and think about it for a while to get it he uses metaphors and similies that are traditionally in hip hop but also has the genius to make a song thats entirely a paradox on itself (yonkers) he is one of my favorite emcees and imo one of if not the greatest emcee to come out of my generation

Bastard and Goblin are about Tyler going to Dr. TC to battle off his inner personalities. Over half of what he said on both albums were his personalities talking. If you listen to the outro to Goblin you would realize that the storyline within Bastard and Goblin makes them two of the best albums of all time.
@mykectown13 жыл бұрын
@tejera02 And PLEASE tell me you're not trying to say that Tyler is better than Cannibal Ox! Cold Vein was one of the most original innovative albums to come out in the past 10 years. El-P's production was light years ahead of anything coming out and Vast and Vordul were spittin like veterans. And which version of the Weathermen we talking? Now or the original crew? Because there's no way anyone's saying OF could touch El, Cage, Copy, Jakki, Breeze, Mu, or Yak in 02-04.

Goblin is to me a very strong 6/10. The beats are very varied in quality, sometimes the production works and sometimes it don't. He made a half-assed attempt to conceptualize it and it didn't work, this is not a mixtape it's an album. I still love Tyler and he really delivers rap-wise. This album would earn a lot from just cutting down on tracks. I love Tyler's melancholy/insane lyrics and I would have loved it if he was more consistent (I'm a fucking sucker for concept albums).

They kept saying it's like Bastard but that's the point in Bastard T.C says we have three sessions today, tomorrow, and Wednesday there is going to be another album like Goblin and Bastard. Goblin was great my favorite songs off the album have to be Nightmare and Tron Cat. The album was creative because Tyler is being deep and emotional in this album I felt there was meaning in every song and Tyler is creating a persona for himself he's straight edge but painting this dark sadistic person which is Wolf Haley but he's being controlled by Tron Cat. It's all this big story that's going to come together in the third album which I think will show Tyler's full potential and it'll make sense in the end what it all means but it won't be as simple as he'll just tell you. He'll make you think behind the words and beats.
@kennithbinge13 жыл бұрын
@PdubzCrew I totally agree with the fan club analogy. A lot people will jump on the bandwagon without a firm understanding of their music and what it is they are doing. We just argued with two of them. Tyler is dope. I agree. I hope he continues on this path and stay true.

I think a lot of these guys are missing the point, the reason he takes back everything he says in the album is purely because the album is a huge paradox. He says it in Yonkers, it's starts at Goblin, the whole album is a battle between Tyler and Wolf. Bastard was purely Wolf's album because it had nothing but crazy shit, and as soon as Tyler sort of mellows up and makes some art he gets flamed. I agree that the hype was completely incorrect, but you cannot deny how great the idea was.

@WelcomeToThe92503 You're right. A lot of people who are giving critiques are older because a lot of times we are the ones who have more of an understanding of music. But at the same time, most people who disagree with us have no argument against our points. Just attacks on us as people. (I wear skinny jeans, Ken wears a suit.) So if we had on a flannel and some cut off jean shorts (like Tyler) you'd have nothing to say? Argue the points. Not the wardrobe. That's silly.
