Jamaican women take zero crap. I went to the ER in the middle of the night with a broken ankle. The guy 2 beds down from me had been shot in the knee. In comes this beautiful 50 year old Jamaican nurse with the voice of an angel. I told her kindly that she could tend to him first since he had a GSW and I just had a broken ankle. She told me straight faced, " No, my dear. That man wants to play with guns, he can suffer. He's not in any danger. Look at you, my love. Broken ankle and being so lovely. You must be in so much pain. I am taking care of you first." I asked "are you sure?" She shook her head and replied, "you are a kind hearted girl. He is stupid. Your pain matters more." I laughed, she smiled and I have never forgotten her. Kind, sympathetic woman but took no BS

One thing to keep in mind, when the locals say it’s “safe” they may mean “ safer than before “ or “ it’s okay” the same scenario would leave someone from Switzerland saying it is a literal warzone. Maybe that’s why it can get confusing when watching these series, they are not trying to fool you/themselves, some genuinely think it’s safe because they don’t have another point of reference

being from el salvador my heart goes out to these people in jamaica. even though jamaican and salvadoran culture are completely different, the people still show great love and appreciation for life. we have the same experience of hoping and praying family and friends stay alive. innocent people do not deserve to live like this. hopefully just like us, our Jamaican brothers and sisters can thrive and become safe 🩷

Growing up in Spanish Town, Jamaica it's not surprising to know that Jamaica is one of the number one countries with the highest murder rate. It's been like that since I was a child. The amount of crimes and shootings that you see in Spanish Town makes it seemed like you're in a movie. Honestly I blame the corrupt politicians that doesn't really care about the Jamaican people and just tourism. Instead of spending money on the country like education and jobs they rather spend it on tourism.

Jamaica is third in homicide rates after El Salvador and Venezuala according to WPR Edit: the data I used in my statement is outdated and from 2020. The more recent data from 2022 also from WPR states Jamaica as having the highest homicide rate followed by other small island nations such as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

In a world where people are either barely making it or aren't making it, it can be hard to justify being charitable. It also just doesn't help that here in the US all of our communities are split. people on hard times stick together and often times can make things both worse and better for themselves, while people who are slightly better off know well that they can only be charitable for so long. and of course the 1% does not care about anybody but increasing their own capital and influence, so theres not much help to be had with them.

everyone and their mother has heard of it, it's not really a secret anymore. It would look worse for them to silence people exposing it than to just let their secret slowly get aired. I mean, it's taken like 30 years for us to have as much info about that place as we do. Alex J was the first person to ever infiltrate it, and then there was a solid 15-20 years of no new info on the secret club. But the last 5 years we've had a LOT of people discussing it and several youtubers have infiltrated it on camera.

As a Jamaican, born , raised and still living on the island, it's great for more people to look at our country from the eyes on both the locals and foreigners. Just the rest of the Jamaicans in the comment section we who live here have different takes on the country. I'm not the best at giving the whole walkthrough, so just a few key points based off the video. Feel free to ask anything if not pointed out here, I'll try and answer as best as I can. - Connections are everything. - The government is 'trying to fix everything' but in reality, they ARE apart of the problem. - Racism isn't a thing, but classicism is. But, they ain't joking when they said you got off good due to ya'll being white, that shit's real. - There is a gang/drug/prostitution house in every community. Yes, even in the rich areas. I live in the middle class area...kinda, and the house right next door was a whorehouse and a drug house, twice with different occupants! They've even raided the place, using my backyard as an enter point. Funny tho, ain't gonna lie. - Gay people, myself being one, have a hard time. Gay men get made fun of and shot, or stabbed down. Gay women have a hard time living due to men trying to get with them. Most people who ain't gay in this country think WE are the ones killing each other. NOPE, it's them killing US. I've always been upfront with people when they ask me if I'm dating anyone, i just say " Yup, my wife and i have been together for 11 years now" and most laugh and think i'm joking. Then try to be nice saying "watch out or those violent gays will stab you" ....oh please... Oh btw, "Fish" as the guy said about the transwomen , it's the equivalent of "Fag" to ya'll Americans. It was funny when ya called him a shark tho lool. - People living in violent communities, truly wish the best for them. They try to fix it up like how Coco is doing for Tivoli. Having friends that live there and going into those parts myself, is a different experience. It's always up to the poeple of the community to fix everything. Some people depend on the government too much, even IF that is their job....they'll almost never care. - If you are apart of a political party, people will take that shit personal. Word of advice: Never wear Green, Orange or even Red during election time. You will be at odds. Now, i'm a apart of the few (or more) people on this island, that actually know the statistics on the crime rate. Funny, as Jamaica is also known for having the most churches per square mile. Literally, there are three near me, walking distance! And with every church, there are even more bars. Trust me. We have always been a crime filled country. Dating back to when Port Royal was at it's full state. The most sinful place on earth. But, i've asked that question.... "Would you rather live in America or Jamaica?" Honestly? Jamaica. We may not be 'safe' to people looking in, but it's safe for us. We've been through it all. But, the country in of itself, is a wonderful place. It's just US as the people, that needs to change. Jamaica, she is a beauty, but we are beating her down at her core. We NEED to stop, she NEEDS to rest.

I mean, yeah, if you go to massive, liberal run cities like Chicago, it's dangerous! Especially the places where they restricted guns! I've lived in Upstate NY, A small city in Arizona, and now FL in a city on the gulf coast. Never had an issue in Arizona or Florida with any concerns over safety. In NY, even upstate, there's some sketchy folk, but that has a lot to do with the liberal politics of the state. It's sad, most my family lives there, it's beautiful, but I refuse to ever move back! Florida is my favorite, have my own boat, and everyone is friendly!!

This is really misleading of you man. A simple google search will show that it’s not the murder capitol, and in fact isn’t even close. The way you try to push that narrative throughout the video, and the way you try to coerce the people you interview into going with that narrative is really gross.

I lived in Kingston for 8 months back in 2010 and I never felt safe, always felt like I was being watched, eyed up and about to be kidnapped. I remember at one point there was an article in the local paper with a headline reading "murder free day". Basically that tells you that on that particular day there were no murders, and it was such a rare occurrence that it was newsworthy. We also heard gunshots at one point, it was overall a scary experience and I have no desire to return. However I will say that most of the ordinary locals I met were such friendly people who wanted the violence to end and for their home country to be one of peace and prosperity and I really hope that it can be one day.

I’ve only been to Negril in Jamaica, and it’s such a different atmosphere than Kingston. Negril is small town country vibes. Definitely poverty no Americans are used to. But some of the nicest, chillest, most welcoming people I’ve ever met. They also love America so that was a cool perspective to have.

That accent just positively brings a feeling of joy. I loved Ska music in the 80's & U B 40's ' Kingston Town ' is one of my top 10. My bruv saved up to go see Bob Marleys grave & although he had to put his hand in his pocket many times he also said he was protected because looking back they probably thought what a silly white boy coming here on your own. He was only 19, but Bob Marley was his idol & the locals were very kind to him. Thank you to the good people of Jamaica❤
