Opossumations uwu it's very important to keep air fresheners out of probably the whole house. my downstairs neighbor sprays a lot of air fresheners and unfortunately my parakeet just died because of it going through the vents :(
@auroies85034 жыл бұрын
so does my mom! i told my mom that.. and they're probably going to let me get a bird soon. she loves air fresheners and stuff like that. it worries me so much that even keeping them in the house or using them in a separate room will instantly kill them.

I have 2 macaws and some old videos of them here on YT, more updated vids on IG (bearyhotaz), but I wanted to thank you for making videos like this! Many people don't know the dangers of Teflon, some aerosols and mist fragrances. Your video is very helpful for bird owners. In all honesty, I have been using Scentsy melts in my house for 6 years and it doesn't make my macaws sneeze, cough or react in any way. They had x-rays 3 months ago and their lungs are clear and healthy. The wax melts do not steam, put off any aerosol or vaporized fragrance into the air. I would not recommend using Scentsy for anyone else with pet birds, especially someone with smaller birds, but for my macaws, it has not caused any harm. Keep making wonderful, informative exotic pet videos for the masses, you are very good at it!

This is such an amazing video!! I’ve got friends coming over later today, so literally going to go do this right now! My only thought: pine is awesome and smells awesome and birds love it, but BEWARE OF CEDER! Though it smells awesome, Cedar wood and cedar oil can be very hazardous to birds! Honestly I don’t know if just making a simmer pot with cedar would be detrimental to your birds health, but to me personally, I wouldn’t take the risk. ANYWHO, thank you for this video!! I’ve missed using candles and intense!!

There’s another way to do this without boiling. You can put herbs, spices, flowers and essential oils in little satchels. And put them around the house/room and boom. Usually put them at thresholds. Just be careful. If you know you have these satchels don’t let your bird pick at them or get too close to them. They’re pretty strong in smell, especially for you use spices.

If I’m 100% certain that the essential oils I’m diffusing are pure and don’t contain anything other than the oil itself (no chemicals) would it be safe to diffuse them around birds?
@camerondunlap97425 жыл бұрын
I would do more research into what types your using too, if you haven't already. Like you can have 100% pure tea tree oil, but it's just naturally toxic to many animals whether it's pure or not. If your buying high quality oils, the possibility of artificial fragrance wouldn't worry me as much as just learning more about the different types of oils in the pure form and what can maybe cause poor reactions with different types of animals. Even with humans there is a list of oils that you are told to avoid when pregnant. Sorry this is so long lol- I personally love essential oils but have been so hesitant to use any recently since adding reptiles to our home.
@emslilzoo29065 жыл бұрын
Lots of essential oils are too strong, and unfortunately some can even kill or cause health complications in larger animals like cats. You gotta be careful and google the specific types you have and whether they're safe around parrots!
