when you direct every little thing in portrait you make portrait not the person you shoot but the portrait of the person you imagine in your head and its has nothing similar to a real person in many cases... and yes maybe it work for you but it not necessary will work for another photographer... yes for commercial photography i bet its work but not in photographing people and not brands... i think that the main thing is to show direction
