Just found your channels a few days ago. Fairly new to fishing and am more of a “I just want to catch anything” kind of guy. Recently been more interested in bass fishing and since summer is here I wanted to get some info on how the bite would be. Cannot stress enough how helpful your videos have been- I’ve saved so many of them to be able to go back to later. Thanks for all of your time and effort man!

I just wanted to thank you (again) for sharing your fishing knowledge with me/us. As a fishermen who has graduated from a spincaster to a spinning/bait casting reel, your videos have helped me actually LEARN how to rig baits and fish them. Videos like these are probably trivial to season vets, but for guys/gals just starting to take fishing a little more seriously, all your “how to” ones where you actually show the process, are extremely informative. For someone who has bought a bunch of new baits, but not really sure of the best way(s) to rig and fish them, this is great. I always look forward to your videos, and seem to go back to the ones I’m thinking about using that day. God bless!

I've been fishing Texas rigs for about 25 years and is definitely one of my confidence baits and go to lures. I've used French fries, slugos, straight tail, ribbon tail, magnums and creatures. But this year I discovered using the zman bulletZ with a crush city blt and it's been insane for large and small mouth. Great video, I agree with you so much in your videos.

One hell of a video with all the information everyone wants to hear and learn it. I fish a lot of Texas rig, but I always questioned if i was using the right weight. I was told all around it is a 1/4 ounce or 1/8. But this explains what i needed to know to present the best presentation once it entered the water going down. Thanks, man... You are the best out there by far, and professionalism with knowledge to share....🎉

I grew up fishing texas rig. I caught many in the 10 pound range. And my biggest a 12 pounder all in Florida. I used big worms 10 inch plus. And yes lil bass have no problem eating big worms. U catch just as many and entice the bigger ones alot more. And there are different techniques. I used to almost just shake my worm in the same place with a lil slack line let it sit for a few seconds then repeat. And lizards always worked good also. And when u cast let it fall to the bottom let it sit a few seconds. They eat worm reeling or swimming also

The main two soft plastics i use are a 5 inch stick bait and a 4 inch craw. Almost always thrown on an unpegged texas rig with a 3/0 hook. I agree with craws being one of the most versatile soft plastics, Texas rig, jig trailer, swim jig trailer (turn it perpendicular and you have a decent swim bait substitute). As always, your videos are great, even if I didn't think I would learn something, I did!

I feel like the swimming worm is super underrated, use it with skirted weights for a larger profile. swim with a underspin EWG hook for flashier presence, fish it normal as shown here, I’ve even used it a jig trailer, I usually save my ripped up worm and cut it down to about 3 inches , that’s one little claw hanging off the back works great! Something different a lot of bass haven’t seen before

Agree with most of your points. I will say though, I also see value in pegging the weights when using elaztec baits to keep them down when the bait itself wants to float up. This might be specific to more bfs style fishermen since I like to bfs fish with Zman Ned baits so they're meant to float. In that case though, I would fs peg the weight!

One of the biggest fish I ever caught was in a pond not a whole lot bigger than my back yard. At best a 1/2-acre pond, with a depth max of 10'. A ton of hydrilla in the center of it with a whole in the middle. I threw a floating 10" Mann's bubblegum floating worm over that hole a good 30 times. Eventually the fish got mad enough to hit it. It took about 4-5 minutes to get it through all the green slop it was living in. In the end that girl was 8.2 and then a personal best. (1987) Rod Shimano Beastmaster 6'6" MH with a Diawa TD2 reel. 25-pound Berkley Big Game line and an Owner 6/0-7/0 striper rig and slimed in Berkley craw scent. Ya, I'm old but I still have all those rods and reels in my collection.

Speaking of the swim bait, I have caught a ton using the 3.25” rage swimmers as a Chatterbait trailer. A lot of people say it messes up the action compared to a spunk shad, or other non paddle type but they work great for sure. Thanks for the retrieval tips, I kinda haven’t figured out how to enjoy soft plastics much so need to put some work in on them! I’m much more of a power fisherman. 😂

Quick question for you. Why does no one use a glass or plastic bead anymore? I was always taught growing up to have the bead to create additional clicking noise and act as a way to protect your knot from the bullet weight. Is this just old school or is there a reason the bead has gone away in many different people tackle boxes. Great video love the content!

hey TRF, i wanted to stop by and share my story with you from yesterday. Been a fan for a while, i love your videos and they've helped me so much. So a few weeks ago i was kayaking a river with a couple friends and, well, long story short my kayak got flipped and i lost some stuff, which included my only rod (and the lure on it), which was only maybe a year old. I don't have the money to replace it right now, so another friend lent me one of his in the meantime. I was still reluctant to go back out though, and to use my friend's equipment. Anyway, yesterday my friend i was kayaking with finally dragged me back out to our usual lake to shore fish. I was still feeling down, and hadn't caught anything in a while, and so i decided to take your advice and threw my texas rig 5" Ocho, and on my second or maybe third cast, it fell almost to the bottom but landed right on a nice 3-pounder's face. The first time he hit it he didn't quite have it so i actually pulled the worm out of its mouth, but i just let it fall again and he turned right back around and really smashed it. I landed that one, and then later switched to a texas rig craw, i think it's the Rage Bug, and got a good looking 1 and a quarter pound on my last cast of the day on that, with a nice slow crawl on the bottom. Really had a blast because i need lures to throw in this lake that aren't topwater, but it's insanely grassy. the texas rig works like a charm, and now i know that! And tonight i went out to a different river to shore fish with my friend whose rod i'm using, and caught another 2 smallies on my new whopper plopper, the lure which i have spent at least $100 replacing because i've lost so many of them in ridiculous ways 😅 Anyways, just wanted to share with you and say thank you again for all your content, it really has helped a whole heck of a lot! More than i can even put into words, really!

Tyler. At 18 min in you start talking about why the hook sometimes comes out of a fishes mouth without hooking the fish. I recently saw a video that explained that EWG hooks often don't hook fish because the hook and the eye tie are on the same plane. Therefore, when you set the hook hard, like you were explaining regarding a pegged Texas rig, even NOT pegged, the hook comes out of the mouth without hooking the fish because it's on the same plane as the tie. It actually recommended NOT using EWG hooks for Texas rigging. It recommended using hooks that have the eye and hook point on a different plane. Like an Offset EWG or even a regular worm hook. ...Any thoughts on that? (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKfTh2Zsh8mAmMk)

Problem with straight shank on dragging is, it tears through your bait more easily. You’re going to lose fish and not hook fish with any hook you choose, and I’ve even seen it come down to the size and thickness of the lips and mouth that certain breeds of bass have over others. So many variables, so little time. Use what you are comfortable with and have success with.

@@TylersReelFishing Thank you for replying. I value your opinion. I don't get a chance to throw my worm rig much anymore. Sad because it used to be my second favorite way to catch fish. (yeah, top water's still #1) I fish some really tough ponds where I live and they seem to mostly have fish (bass) less than a pound. You'll laugh, but from time to time, I still break out one of my old 2/0 or 3/0 TruTurn hooks. They're over 40 years old! Mostly, I use #4 - #1 offset worm hooks on an old forgotten Zoom Meathead worm. (some of those are 35 plus years old too! I had a big fishing hiatus for the past 25 years. Now that I'm retired, I fish close to every day. Love your bank fishing series. That's what I do mostly. Just can't find ponds with relatively large populations of catchable decent size bass!) Having said that, I was targeting blue gill with ultralite gear today. First cast and 5 minutes later, I landed a 2 lb. 5 oz. largemouth. She hit a 1 gram jig with size 12 hook and a Zman Green Pumpkin LarvaZ. That was fun! Blessings!

I really appreciate the valid information you bring to the community! I have recently stopped following and sharing your videos due to the live scop video game fishing you sometimes promote 😒 I believe you have enough SKILL & KNOWLEDGE to continue promoting actual fishing! Please stop promoting the disgrace that is live scope cherry picking. Fishing isn't about winning a tournament!
